lofton started and got most of the snaps the score was 28-0 at the half estep looked good too but lofton is on another level. He has elite level game speed Hughes scored a 70 yard TD handoff the first play of the game and lofton scored 3 on just pulling it and running. If Somerset keeps everybody healthy and keeps improving like they have under cleavenger over the last 2 seasons I think they can compete for a championship. Their D is really good they return I think 9 from last year and Hughes is huge at 6’ 0” 204 lbs he is going to be a load to Handel this year. I think the combo of Hughes Cimala and lofton in the backfield has potential to be really good. Throw in some really good freshman skill players and the sky’s the limit.

Yeast still the Coach. Two players left to Boyle County. Three Boyle players went to Mercer.

They didn’t look good they have few good athletes. If it had been a full game Somerset would have hung 50 on them but Somerset did look good. They looked good in their camp games at UVA wise also against Middlesbrough and Russell co. Their D is stought and they have some weapons on offense.

Hopefully Somerset is going to be really good and maybe Mercer isn't that bad. Mercer made a major mistake not keeping former coach and hiring of current coach. They went from averaging mid 60's roster to now mid 30's on the roster. Mercer is on a path to be Danville 2.0. Hate it for the kids at Mercer that have been let down by their current administration. Current coach takes zero responsibility and blames the community saying kids there don't want to play football. That is not true Mercer proved with the previous coach that kids in the community do want to play football just not for the current coach.

Above poster is right. Mercer is a shell of what they could/should be. When they hired Yeast, I thought there would be some successes.

Somerset sounds to have taken care of business. The defense should win them some games. I’m still not sold on the passing offense, yet. I know what I said on another post and it wasn’t maybe the smartest but they still have 4-5 games that could/should test who they are. Let’s see how they do against South Laurel before I give too many more opinions.

Most kids can't stand the coaching staff. Numbers are down . The kids either didn't play or transferred out.

I heard a lot of grumblings last season about their coaching staff. The first season Yeast was there, Mercer had some success, and one of the players that played for him that season really liked him. I guess the honeymoon is over.

There is definitely some issues there. During the game yeast had to leave the sideline and break up a verbal spat between the assistant coaches and some of their own fans. Sounds like they have some internal problems. They also didn’t have great numbers on the sideline for a 3A school. They do have some big kids and a couple of nice looking athletes.
