I honestly don’t blame them at this point. You can’t build a program with a rotating door

What’s the problem at Whitley, they seem to me like they eat coaches in all sports except Baseball. Is this politics at its finest?
#5
Well
#6
Wonder who will get the job next ? Any ideas?
#7
well

Whitley needs to act fast to keep this young nucleus together.

Where will they most likely transfer? Our school played them this season at our place and they were young but very good, gave us a thumping. But we had lost four starters from last year’s team and started 3 sophomores and 2 freshmen, so also had a young team.
But I told folks at the time that Whitley team had a good future.

Rumors have flown since the exact same scenario last year when they lost their coach. There was some appeasement made to parents but evidently it blew out spectacularly. 2 50th district schools are the suppossed destination for 3 of the ladies. Time will tell but I can say if it happens it will be Huge for 1 of those schools. From what I am hearing given what was told last year it will be irrelevant as to who Whitley hires they will lose players.....to much involvement in the program by a couple of parents and the AD Siler.....again all rumors and speculations at this point.

I heard that they may be interested in coach McAlarnis who is an assistant at Knott Central. She has a daughter that will be an 8th grader next year and is pretty darn good for her age. Starts at guard for them and is a solid player. Her older sister is MVP of the 14th region this year and is heading to UPike.

Also looking at KC’s Madden along with a few recruits coming with him is also floating around the talking head groups.

This was a pretty rampant rumor last year as well and also she was allegedly a candidate for the then open South position. Personally from what I understand Coach does not want to leave the mtns, don't know if Whitley is too far away. If she had wanted the job she would have gotten it last opening because she was far more quallified.

Considering Mitchs prev history with female athletes at Jackson I can't imagine in any shape would Siler bring him aboard. Siler hates that sort of thing and any baggage like that.

Id say you are correct on it being irrelevant on who’s hired after what I saw tonight at the region games. Wouldn’t be surprised if transfers come sooner than summer.

Qualifications don’t matter at Whitley Co.

What matters is what the Super wants, it always been that way, and will always be that way.

That’s why Whitley produces great players….for Corbin in particular, but other teams as well.

Next year will be no different.

The Super will have his pick and it will be business as usual.

Be a sad day if they hire a guy who has a history of being a sick person when concerning little girls. I’d say they will hire another assistant off of the boys staff.

I do, Swords is pretty connected and Whitley has a history of hiring within. If I’m not mistaken Swords has an assistant (younger guy) on his staff that use to be a head coach I believe.

I heard today Siler is actively pursuing Mahan. No word on if he’s interested or not but I just don’t see him uprooting and leaving such a successful program. Money talks tho

Not heard anything on the coaching situation. Heard they’re losing their top two players. If I was Siler I’d be talking to those girls and doing everything in my power to keep that group together. If they could keep them together then they’d be top of region for sure. Can he do it? We will see

Top of the Region? Not quite but they would finally make it to the region tourney. And from what I'm hearing the parents and girls heard the same song and dance last year to keep them and aren't buying it this time around.

Usually you hear names but I’ve not heard a word of anyone else. Strange

Honestly I don't think they will be able to get anyone locally with Head coaching experience or anyone familiar with the area due to the reputation of the job. Siler and the prev mentioned parents have a history and I don't mean a good one. This job will be either a first time head coach or someone who is desperate to get back into coaching etc. There will not be a rush of qualified applicants in my opinion
