The Callaham brothers really improved last year and I expect them to have big sophomore years at the plate. Lots of question outside of that especially in the outfield and behind the plate. The one addition that could be big is if Logan Morrow plays this year after being out all of last year with a football injury. He really came on toward the end of his freshmen year and showed some pop at the plate. The pitching should be solid with Montgomery and Rose as 1-2. You always know with JC they are going to play a difficult schedule and they are going to be well coached with Coach Hall in the dugout.

Paintsville has a really deep pitching staff with Kincheloe, Horn, Stratton and Lauffer. That is going to be a big strength for them this year. They are solid at the plate too. I thought I read in the offseason that Alex Johnson was transferring to Pburg for football. How is that going to affect baseball this spring? Has he already transferred or will he be in the field for the Tigers come March? LOL. He hit over .300 last year so that would be a big loss for Paintsville and big pickup for Pburg.

He’s at Prestonsburg which will help replace what we lost with Nic Kidd graduating. AJ should slide right into the SS position and also help with pitching depth. On top of that, what he brings offensively will help Prestonsburg tremendously. Prestonsburg with Allen, Luke Hall and AJ as your top 3 with Brayden Tussey and Brody Napier as relief gives you decent depth at pitching. Offensively is where my concern is with Prestonsburg this year. We’ve lost a lot of offense the past couple of years due to graduation so how do they respond? AJ will help plus Luke Hall and Barrett Hunter returning keeps some fire power at the top of the lineup. We will need to see Allen, Stumbo, and Brady Allen really step up offensively this season to help carry the pitching. I like this years team though. Should be a good one.
Is Johnson eligible? Last I heard, he hadn’t been ruled eligible by the KHSAA, but that was back in December.

I believe so. He wasn’t going to play baseball but has decided to come out and give it a shot. He was definitely needed for us to be successful this season.

15th top to bottom the weakest its been in last 5 to 10 years. Pikeville will be good along with a young Paintsville team. Johnson Central will be best coached team. After that big drop. Few teams have 1 pitcher and might win a big game here and there but no 15th team will make any type of run at state.

It seems to be that way in a lot of regions around the state. How in the world does the “KHSBCA WATCH LIST” for the 15th region only have these 5 kids? Every other region has 10 kids. I’m not sure who is over that for the 15th but this is a weird list.

Kaden Allen - PBURG
Barrett Hunter - PBURG
Luke Hall - PBURG
Eli Fletcher - LC
Michael Hagy - Belfry

I sent the list to Kaden and was like “no Pikeville, Paintsville or JC?” Makes no sense how there’s not a single player from those schools listed. Then you don’t put Chase Varney from Belfry on it either? Wild.

Some coaches do not submit any players. List is very biased

Kaden belongs on the list but still a very poor effort. How can someone even put that out there lol

Each coach that responds to them sends in players from their team. Several coaches ignore it and some only see their kid as worthy. Most schools should have at least one player listed. Some should have several.

I can see why coaches don’t send names because could cause dissension on team. If 1 kid feels snubbed could be harmful. But how Belfrys coach didn’t send in Chase Varney but did send his own kid is crazy. Might should have sent Fites name in. He is leading them in offense so far.

Why do not think they can compete with JC or Paintsville Martin Co . I think will be good to keep on the radar this season. Crayson Lafferty is back on the field and I know he is a talented baseball player , one of the best utilities there is and he had a heavy bat before They have also picked up Blake Lemaster 8th grade Paintsville transfer. Damian Cheek is solid, Aiden Horn and Chase Stacy can play . Eli Mills returns from basketball season and Devan Maynard has joined the team.
