How much for a family of 4 to attend 1st two rounds in Milwaukee?
#1
4 tix x 2 games
gas (not hitting Pope up)
2 rooms for 3 nights
concessions (holy fckamoly)
eating out

I'm serious, you have to either be rich AF and/or have a screw loose to even consider it. Not to mention killing 5 days for 40 minutes of basketball x 2. (Thur-Mon).

Prediction, if Illinois wins vs Xavier the arena in Milwaukee will be 80% Illini fans Sunday since they can make the short drive and see the game and be back home the same day.

I'd say, for a family of four, you'd be pushing 4 big bills... $3,500 if you skimp.

I say $5k. I have girls and girls don't skimp lol. Either way smart people opt out. I'd rather give them a credit card and send them to Tanger and watch it on the big screen with a twelver and a Domino's

And save 4.5 days and a few thou

Agree with you on all accounts. Big time sports continues to price out the average fan. NCAA, NFL , World Series... Hell, even a weekend series at Great American Ball Park will run you several hundred, maybe a thousand bucks.  Most families can no longer afford sports entertainment. SAD!

Indeed!!!   The first professional sports ticket I ever purchased was for a Reds-Pirates game at Riverfront in August of 1971 :  $3

Bought a ticket to Bengals/Steelers regular season game at Riverfront in 1976 :   $7

Made it through both games tonight with 12 7-oz beers (thats 7 real beers lol) and a small Wendy's chili and small bag of chili cheese Freetos. Blus the bookie owes me 2 small winnings on UK and Illinois. You couldn't get me to Milwaukee at gunpoint lol.

I wish I saved my old concert tickets. It takes a nut to pay $1000 per Taylor Swift ticket for the whole family in the upper deck of a football stadium and I know many people who are doing it lol. Crazy times.

One of my best friends paid $1500 x 4 for his family to see Morgan Wallen in Knoxville recently. I almost called 911 on him.

Me either. I wouldn't  leave the comfort of my living room and my frosty bottled Keystone Extras if someone paid me $1,000. Btw, Wendy's Chili is so damned good. So are chili cheese freetos.

Yes! Pour half the small bag into the chili and eat the other half as an appetizer lol. Total meal w/beer = ~$20. Keystone works great needless to say.

This is going to sound crazy, but I've had much better success with professional tickets than college ones over the past ten or so years, especially on secondary markets.

The way the NCAA allots tickets for the tournament is terrible. Much better off if you wait and buy at the last minute (read: after anyone who bought in early's teams are beat out and they're dumping tickets).

Know that there's been at least one suit over how sales were handled in the past. Definitely had "bait and switch" practices online where you'd think you were buying one seat that either "expired" or was "sold" and then replaced with a more expensive ticket (with a worse view).

Anecdotal, but I've nabbed a pair of lower level NFL playoff tickets for ~$200 per for a Wild Card Weekend game and saw a Cy Young winner pitch from about 12-15 rows behind first base and the home team's dugout on a weekend for way less since that. I actually relisted the NFL tickets for something absurd hoping someone would buy them (spoiler: they didn't), but it shouldn't be significantly cheaper to see that level of a professional game.

Jet, get this. My mom had a ticket to see Elvis at Rupp Arena. The show was to have taken place the week after his unfortunate death. She could have returned the ticket for a refund. She didn't.  She still had the ticket at the time of her death.  Ticket price ---   $ 7 .

I remember. My best friend's parents were taking the whole family. August of 1977 if I remember correctly. Before I knew how big Elvis was.

I can't recall the year, but I went to the final four when it was in Arlington. It was the year that we played the Texas twins and Randall was the low post. Tickets for all games were $750, and while those seats were not the best in the house, but they weren't bad either. The four teams playing were UConn, Florida, UK and Wisconsin. That is an experience I will never forget!! The Wisconsin fans were passionate but very friendly. The UConn and Florida fans were thuggish and I was happy to watch MANY of them be arrested.

The atmosphere is difficult if not impossible to describe. We sat with Wisconsin fans, and had a lot of friendly banter. But, even though they lost to UK, most of them came back to the championship game and cheered for UK. Texas fans showed up for us, too. Combine that with the way BBN travels, and we had a lot of very LOUD support.

I went to concerts from July 1979 through all the 80s every time the door opened at Rupp, and I never, ever remember paying more than $10. I saw Don Henley at Rupp once for $5 and a losing Ky lottery ticket (they were sponsoring). So ironically, the only time I ever bought a Ky lottery ticket, I was hoping for a loser.

I hate, hate, hate how big time sports have priced the average Joe out. Now, you could get upper arena tickets at Rupp this past Thursday night for $5, and I even saw good lower arena tickets listed at $19. I almost pulled the trigger on that, but did I really want to see Tennessee-Wofford and UCLA-Utah St.? Plus, even without exorbitant ticket prices, you still have to pay outlandish parking and concession prices. About the only thing I still will pay for is one Bengals game a year for me and my son, we’ve been doing that for nearly 20 years now, it would kill my soul to give that up.

There's not ANYTHING comparable for me to be making memories with my family!! Worth a damn sight more than a ticket price.

Not only would I not pay the outrageous ticket prices that most performers demand these days, I wouldn't even leave my house if they were performing in a block party down the street in my subdivision. And if they ventured onto my lawn, I'd call the police.
