This was the first game I watched of JC's all year. They play a lot like PBurg with Keathley. Just give Slone the ball and he going straight down the lane to get a layup or foul. They had the Rose kid who's being guarded by a kid I'd guess 6 inches shorter than him and they didn't post him not one time while I watched. And not to mention JC was terrible on defense. They just let LC get layups and wide open 3's the whole time.

This is why I like the Super Region. You have to win your way in. Chandler Thompson team is tough to beat in March

Johnson Central has struggled defensively all year. I have watched them play on multiple occasions this season. Continued to play zone defense but continued to give up open perimeter shots and layups. Defensive effort was lacking and disappointing.

Great game in Paintsville tonight. Lawrence answered every run JC made. Game really changed when JC fought back from down 26-13 to tie it, before Lawrence hit four threes on four possessions to extend lead back out.
Lawrence finished 15-15 down the stretch at the line in last two minutes to pull out a great win. Fun atmosphere!
Mason McKenzie played extremely well for JC as did Slone. Just Lawrence made Big play after big play every time JC would gain a little momentum.
Not sure Lawrence matches up with pikeville, but if that Lawrence team shows up next Saturday they are hard to beat.

I don’t recall seeing one offensive set that was designed for him to get the ball.

Makes no sense. He’s taller than a red oak on a creek bank and gets to the rim pretty fast for dunks.

JC never got it going this season. With all the cancelled and postponed games nothing seemed to flow. Young team though. Might be dangerous next year. They came in out of shape and not ready this season. Doubt that happens next year.
Really disappointing end of the season for JC. You can't give up 94 points at home with a chance to play in the regional tournament on the line. Hats to Lawrence County they played with tremendous focus, effort and it seemed like they didn't miss any open looks or free throws in the 2nd half. Chandler Thompson may be the most underrated coach in the region and you could tell he had his boys ready to play. I think Lawrence had a little bit of a chip on their shoulder after being upset by Pburg in the district tournament.
I think a lot of people (myself included) saw the end of last season and thought with everything JC has coming back they will take that next step this year. They definitely improved some this year, but they never really got in a rhythm to play a consistent level of really good basketball. The same issues were there all year long: really inconsistent effort on defense, sloppy turnovers, and never really developed the depth outside of the starting 5.
The good news for us JC fans is that this team returns 4 starters (3 sophomores and 1 freshmen). They are still a really young team, but they have some pretty big flaws they need to sort out in the off season. Mason Mckenzie really started to blossom by the end of the year, and I expect him to be even better as a sophomore. He just has to cut the silly turnovers out of his game, and I think that will naturally occur as he gets more experience on the high school level.
I agree that JC could have utilized Rose more in the post this year. He had a size advantage against almost every team in the region. The problem is that Rose doesn't really have a go to post move other than dunking. He also is a 27% free throw shooter. If he could get his FT shooting to 50-60% that would be a total game changer.

might be the laziest JC team ive ever watched. letting up 94 too LC is crazy, let alone letting a team score 94 in a highschool game.
