After 20 years as the head baseball coach of East Carter High School, Jeremiah Shearer has decided it’s time to turn the program over to someone new. During his tenure, Coach Shearer has racked up 380 wins, 13 district championships, and 2 regional championships. Jeremiah is a graduate of East Carter, where he played baseball for Coach J.P. Kouns. He went on to play at Alice Lloyd College and earned his teaching degree. He returned to East Carter where he served as an assistant under Coach Kouns for 4 years before taking on the role of head coach. Shearer says, “It was always my dream to coach at my alma mater.  Throughout my career I was blessed with a supportive family, loyal assistant coaches that became family, dedicated players, and administrators that showed unwavering support. These past 2 decades will always hold a special place in my heart and I will continue to be one of the Raiders biggest fans! Go Raiders!!”
K.W. Sexton has served alongside Coach Shearer as one of his assistants for these past 20 years as well, and he too will be stepping down to spend more time with his family and pursue other interests.
East Carter High School appreciates the time and dedication these men have given to our baseball program, our students, our school, and our community. They have become cherished members of Raider history and we wish them all the best! #oncearaideralwaysaraider #RaiderPride
