Feast Week
#1
Has been on an absolute heater this week. Been some great matchups in all these holiday tournaments.

A ton of top 5/top 10 matchups, a great appetizer for the big meal in March!

I always look forward to this stretch of basketball.  From around Thanksgiving going into around Christmas.  A lot of good games and tournaments.  St John's had a thriller here recently.  Think they lost maybe in ot but still a heck of a game.  Can't remember who they played.

UCONN lost a thriller after their HC Hurley got a technical late in the game.  For cussing at the refs or something lol

I honestly can't remember the last time UK played in a holiday tournament.  Wish we would,  those are definitely fun to watch.

@King Kong I love this time of year. St Johns played Baylor last week and ended up losing in double OT 99-98, game winning 3 by Baylor, think St Johns had a 5 point with like 9 seconds left too.

Honestly, I've always been a UCONN fan, not just a recency bias thing either, I've been a fan since the Jim Calhoun days, especially when Rip Hamilton played, Ben Gordon/Emeka Okafor. But I'll say this I am done with them as long as Hurley is HC, and I don't see him leaving anytime soon unless he just has a collapse of epic proportions. There's a huge difference in coaching with intensity, coaching your players hard, and the behavior he displayed during the Maui, literally screaming, shouting and complaining to the refs on basically every call, the tech that cost them in OT against Memphis I thought he was going to shove his assistant out of the way. Dude is a loose cannon, may be the closest thing (and I use that term loosely bc nothing will ever compare) we get to the late Bob Knight.

As for Kentucky playing in these holiday tournaments, they haven't in a very long time, think it's been what 14 years since they played in the Maui? Seems like they've hardly ever played in any of these tournaments when Cal was coach. I remember them being in the Maui 20-24 years ago, then the great Alaska shootout as well. Pope and his staff have helped restore a lot of tradition back into this program, hopefully this will be the next step and get into this tournaments against some quality competition in the future.
