Kentucky vs. Western Kentucky 11/26
#1
Tip-off set for 6:30 tomorrow.

Good to see this in-state rivalry continue. WKU sets at 3-2, would say it's a step up in competitionmpetiton, but WKU beat Jackson St by 17, the same team Kentucky jus throttled by 50.

Sure the Toppers will be ready to play, but UK should take care of business in this one.

Western has quite a storied basketball history. Somme really good teams. Here's the Toppers thumping UK in the '71 second round NCAA Tourney game. I remember watching this game.

Glad to see us playing this game. I think Western will come out with a little fire and maybe keep it close early. I feel UK pulls away though either just before half or early 2nd half. Really enjoy watching this team right now. Can't wait to see us when we hit the meat of our schedule

Yeah I like it when we play other in state teams.  Shoot,  I even like to see U of L do good,  except for one game of the year,  when they play the Cat's!  Guarantee WKU would love nothing more than to hand us our first loss.  That'd be a shot heard around the country if it happens.

Coach Pope will have our guys ready. With the energy he brings,  he'll have us pumped for everyone we play.

The Cat's get the win in this one baby!

My dad was recruited by WKU for basketball sometime in the 60s. We were just talking about this earlier, after I mentioned that's who the Cat's play tonight.  He had five scholarship offers coming outta highschool,  WKU was one of them.

Just went and looked at some history of the WKU basketball program from the 60s.  They had some good seasons.  Won some conference championships and made some NCAA tournaments. Had some good teams.

At least with this pay game the money is going to another KY school.

When does UK play their first real game?

Nailed the prediction. Didn’t get to see the whole thing but looked like WKU was able to disrupt some things defensively, at least for stretches.

Don't hate me, but I was a little disappointed in our performance during this game.
We had some great minutes in this game, but we also had some disappointing ones, too.
I can't put my finger on the specifics yet; I haven't had my second cup of coffee, but we need to be more consistent.

Figured this would be a little more tougher of a test than what we've had since the Duke game.

WKU played with great effort & energy all game, credit to coach Plona for having the Tops ready to play.

As for Kentucky, been accustomed to these blowout games and shooting lights out, but they sure didn't play their best game last night, and I'm sure Pope & staff want them to play every game like they have been, but they're realist as am I, and that's not going to happen, shots aren't going to fall, sloppy play. But at the same time, it was good to see Kentucky face some adversity just to see how they handled it, and they done great down the stretch, as most veteran teams would.

I know one thing; refs got their money's worth last night. Both teams shot a combined 71 free throws, and that is something Kentucky needs to shore up especially in close games. Left a lot of points on the line, missing 13 of em.

Despite not playing their best, still came away with a good win. Got one more game against a smaller opponent going up against Georgia St on Friday, then their first true road game as they travel to Clemson.
