Raceland at Kentucky Country Day 11/29
#1
Raceland at Kentucky Country Day. Thoughts?
#2
I don’t think KCD will be able to match Raceland’s speed and physical play. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a running clock.

Raceland 42
KCD 7

This game should mirror the games Paintsville played against KCD in 2019 and 2020. 400+ rushing yards for Raceland.

I know nothing of this years KCD. I guess I can’t predict a score or a winner. Just hoping my Rams pull off another win this week.
#6
KCD will struggle to stop the run, Rams will spread them out enough though to keep them from stacking the box, but Mike’s philosophy will still be ball control and wear them down and we will do just that. KCD runs their offense pretty well though so it may take us a series or two to adjust to the misdirection. I expect KCD to have some success early until that happens. Rams defense is super fast so reading keys and not over pursuing is a must. Rams still roll onto Kroger though. Goina be a cold one!

Rams beat the RPI pretenders like they stole something!
#8
Raceland does what Raceland does and that is physically whip the other teams butt give me Raceland 3 or maybe even 4 scores
#9
The Rams take KDC to Suplex City.

After watching the KCD/Campbellsville game film I have a more educated prediction. My thoughts are KCD has some really good athletes and they do a good job at getting their playmakers into space. I think they might be able to break a big play or 2 simply because of their athleticism.

The problems that they are going to run into against Raceland will start up front. I think they will have a lot of problems keeping the Raceland defensive front out of the backfield and will force the QB to force plays under pressure he isn’t used to making.

Another thing I think they will struggle with is taking the blows Raceland will deliver for 4 quarters. I’ve often heard Coach Salmons say that a big part of his philosophy is to deliver a lot of body shots for 4 quarters to wear a team down before going for a haymaker.

I’m not sure KCD or any of the teams remaining for that matter have faced a team that will come at you and attack for 4 quarters straight with an intent to beat you down. Last week against Hazard the score was 28-0 and they had the ball on the goal line but the Raceland defense was still playing like preventing them from scoring was a pivotal play in winning even though the game was well decided.

That edge and killer instinct is what I think separates Raceland from the rest of the remaining field. As for this week. I think this game will be similar to when we played NCC. KCD will make Raceland earn what they get but as the game gets late Raceland will do what they do best and run over them after they get wore down.

Raceland whoops KCD. Not really even competitive. 54-6

I expect the Rams to win in a pretty dominant fashion. That being said, unless we break some long TDs in the first half, I can’t see us putting up more than MAYBE 40. It’s just not Mikes philosophy. Now, if they force our hand into throwing the ball, then you may see more big plays. Last year the screen game and sweeps killed KCD and this year we are faster at RB and WR. So that could create a higher production of points for the Rams. But if we stick to what we usually do, the defense will be the deciding factor because we aren’t looking to get into a shootout.

I would love to. Unfortunately, I have a training that I have to attend on that day. Sucks for me that Raceland started making finals appearances after I leave Kentucky. I will be there December 21, hoping I will be getting a championship shirt. Still got to win two more games.

For sure….nothing is guaranteed and being Raceland fans we sure know all about missed opportunities and heartache. This season has been a pleasant surprise for a rebuilding year. No matter what happens Friday I’m happy with the season we have put together.

Yes, many seasons of missed opportunities. I'm beyond happy how this season went.  It may be me getting my hopes up, there is something different about this team. I hope they bring home the trophy, it would mean so much to the community.

Personally I don’t think they had missed opportunities in any of the years they could not have beat Pikeville and in the first year they couldn’t have beat Beechwood now this year I do think they have the team to win it all but that will be sorted out in the next two weeks and I hope they do

When I think of missed opportunities on Raceland history 06, 08, and 2020 are the teams that stick out for me. Those teams were capable of getting it done but couldn’t make it to the finish line.  That’s in the past though and if this team stays focused and keeps playing well I truly believe this team can finally get that elusive state title.  That being said there are 3 other teams left that are hungry for their first title as well and while none of those teams are a juggernaut they are all capable of knocking the Rams off.

True any team can lay a egg or play phenomenal in 1 game but hopefully the Rams keep being the Rams and bring the trophy east

Good luck to the Rams! Go take care of business guys.

KCD looks hungry. A lot better upfront than I anticipated. Rams lead 7-0 almost halftime.
#25
We looked almost too conservative in the first half like we were playing not to lose instead of playing to win.
#26
We went away from what was working

What’s the score fellas?

I’m watching Union dominate Belfry.
