28-12 final score. Another bad loss for the commodores. Have they anchored down and sunk the ship finally? I’m hearing a lot of kids and parents are unhappy there and are on the look elsewhere.

Wheels have officially fell off. I really expected to see a convincing win tonight on the road. Sure, Williamsburg has a good record, but their opponents win/loss record is a weak 17-48 on the season. Any other sport at Perry would have a coaching change with the culture built here but it won’t happen

Just not enough weapons offensively , defense is ok, run game is good, but we gotta be able to throw the deep ball to keep teams honest, and we just don’t have it right now so our QB is in a tough spot every down. Hopefully, some of the young kids can step up next year and start rebuilding the program. We have some studs coming up but we have to make sure we keep them at Perry and not let them leave over Petty things. #anchordown

I think it would be crazy if PCC kids started heading back to Hazard after Dixon left Hazard to come back to “the county”. Could this happen? They prolly won’t head to Breathitt; since PCC owns Breathitt of late.

Leave a program that’s never truly been a football school to go to a place and play where you’d have an opportunity to make it past the first round of playoffs and have potential for a nice playoff run? Doesn’t sound to crazy to me.

I agree with Gunslinger. I would go to Hazard where I had a chance at a ring. Being Class A, it’s still a tall task for Hazard but much easier than winning at the 4A level at a non-traditional football school. If the Neace guy follows his boys up there, they may stay. If he don’t, I could see a couple key pieces straying off to Hazard.

The two should have been the duo from the start. defense is terrible now , play calling still sucks! As do you.

That’s been the line used for a long time but I think kids ultimately are going to go where they see an opportunity to get on the field and make an impact.
Some kids see an opportunity to play a 4A schedule with teams like Corbin and Boyle as a way to prepare for the next level. Some kids may want a playoff run with Harlan, Williamsburg and Raceland or more.
Sadly, though… kids at either school don’t seem worried about playing for the name on the jersey. I’m projecting, but the amount of players that get frustrated and flip between the schools just aggravates me. It’s always been a thing, but it’s never been as common as it’s been lately.

Also beating 4A Letcher who blew Perry out. Hard to argue with that fact. And in all honesty, how many kids are truly bound for the next level? This isn’t the greatest area for promoting kids to the next level. Getting blown out in the first round against Boyle county isn’t going to help anyone’s recruitment and help get them to the next level so why would you not want to play as many games as possible and make the absolute best run you could towards a state championship class rank aside? I’m sure Pikeville has produced plenty of college athletes all while being a 1A school. It’s not like you’re doomed to not play next level ball if you’re at 1A and that you’re guaranteed to play next level if you’re 4A. If you’re good enough to play, you will. Transfers have always happened just like recruiting has always happened. I know the coaching staff at Perry has worked on hazard kids just like I’m sure hazard has worked on kids from Perry. Also I know there’s a lot of talk right now around the commodore football program and it’s not for the better. In the end play where you feel is the right fit for you, but also play where you get playing time and try to fulfill every dream you have had.(11-02-2024, 06:22 PM)Medusa Wrote: I agree with Gunslinger. Couldn’t said it any better GS. I’m not taking a jab at Perry, Hazard is just the better place to be especially as a football player.

I think Perry fans are dooming for the most part. When a handful of kids transfer you can tag me and tell me I was wrong. I’m wrong all the time lmao
I try to be level-headed about it. Perry and Hazard had common opponents like Breathitt, Letcher and Corbin. Breathitt beat Hazard but Perry handled them easily. Corbin approached the Hazard game much differently than they did the district game vs Perry Central. The Letcher game speaks for itself, but I would argue without all the shenanigans those teams weren’t that different. Woulda. Coulda. Shoulda. Hazard will also have a shot to beat a Williamsburg team that took down the Commodores as well.
That being said, Hazard has improved all throughout the year and Perry is having a vintage Commodore season where the train gets off the tracks around district time.
As far as college, Perry has never had trouble getting kids to college for playing football.
It seems like we have this conversation surrounding these programs every year. I think they should just line it up and play in September like the good old days. No one cared about the 1A vs 5A or A vs AAA back then. They just wanted to win.

I would like to see a list of all the college football players Perry has had since the first year. Names that come to my head. The best to me would be Al Holland Jr. Then I’d say Matt Robinson. After that Jayden Neace. I know three at Union now. Ty Vincent, Lucas Gibson, and Kizer Slone. Seth Napier played at UPike. Probably a lot more. Fill us in Zaga.
