#1
Former Letcher Central HC Matthew Taylor has been named the new Boys Basketball Coach at SV.

Leaving one more boys job left to fill in the 15th at this point, the Belfry Pirates.

Good hire if Taylor is planning on sticking around for a while.

Pretty solid hire. Valley should be competitive again.

I think the players that are there fit his style. He will attract a few kids, and some will follow him from LCC. I rank him the 4th best coach in the region to start the year.

Good hire, I would not say homerun hire, I don't see kids making any major move to just go play for him. But he will be good coach at Valley until they run him off.

Fired a good coach and hires this person. Where is Valleys program going to?
Should of keep McCOY.

Ain’t nobody following him

Two left already.
One enrolling this week at Valley.
From the word around Valley another following in weeks to come.

If he can win 20+ at LCC with their past tradition and what he took over there and the drop off of talent.
LCC never beat Perry Pikeville etc before him
Then follow that up with winning 16 games this past season with not a single starter healthy all season.
PLUS the Region Player of Year missing all 2nd semester, and Boggs the leading scorer out 90% of season

I bet in 2yrs Valley is back to Valley of old.

Hearing Valley is already getting kids transferring in and possibly kids going back that transferred away.

I heard this same thing and even heard the kid that went to Pike from ER is considering going there.

Has anyone ever gone to Pikeville and left? As far as the last 10 years since nobody is ruled ineligible.

Good hire for SV

Not to be negative, but I have to b4real. Shelby Valley get ready for your players to drop like flies. Some will leave and go elsewhere, other will quite, and incoming freshman will just not come out for basketball. He knows the game well, but he has no player relation skills and treats the kids with zero respect. Cant treat people like that in any aspect of life. Sorry Valley, but you will see. Sorry Coach T. , but if you keep treating people like you do, this will be your last stop in the mountains.

Quit***
Not quite btw

But, Sounds like a parent of a player who couldn’t make it lol. Taylor turned around LCC from nothing. Sent 3/4 kids to college basketball from a place that had none and a Region POY. Will do the same at Valley. You can’t find a former player / parent that will say a bad word about him at any level. Above and beyond I think would best describe his time with his players.

But you are right you will find a ton from the ones who were the problem at LCC that wanted to be coached by their daddies and mommies.

Watched valley multiple times this summer. They are a TOTALLY different team. Taylor is playing younger players Bartley and few freshman plus the transfer that followed him.

Sounds like some senior parents are not happy with the rotation lol already

Knowing Taylor he will stick to his guns and play who deserves it more coaches should take this route the times of “senior plays no matter what they earned it” are gone

But after seeing them this summer they will be a team to deal with when it comes to season.

Johnson Bartley Hamilton all looked great this summer

A completely irrational take. Players love him. He is the epitome of hard work and what it does on the hardwood.

Horrible take about what it takes to succeed. Coaching is not a popularity contest if so no good ones would have ever made it. Respect is earned not given. Good luck to the team and coach
