WPRG
#1
Hearing WPRG is going to go full throttle this season in 15th Region Sports across the board.  Sounds exciting according to what's being said.!

What exactly is being said?

Great news. Love watching games on PRG.

KHSAA has made it known that every high school sporting event in Kentucky will be live-streamed by NFHS but 2024 I believe maybe WPRG is trying to get out in front of that.
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

There’s several schools in the 14th region that doesn’t use NFHS. They use their local streaming. Ours utilizes BluegrassSportsNation (BSN). Knott County uses Hometown24. Perry and and Hazard have their own services. Jackson County in the 13th, and maybe Clay and the Laurel schools use PRTC .

BIG Brother wants to take it from local control for a reason!

I thought David and Darryl covered some of the games at Martin County.

Leslie, Hazard, and Perry all utilize WSGS.

That’s what’s going to be interesting when KHSAA signs thst deal with NFHS. Will they let local organizations broadcast the games still.

Do you have a link or source for everything being streamed on NFHS by 2024?

As of right now, individual schools sign deals with NFHS. If you take their automated camera you have to stream exclusively on NFHS.
They are giving it away for free to encourage that. You can stream on NFHS manually without being exclusive to NFHS.

They may very well sign some kind of exclusive deal in the future, but I would imagine it would take a board vote and that would piss off every radio station and media outlet in their region. I could be wrong about it needing a vote though.

I get why Martin County does it all in-house. There have been a few jokers to come through with an iPhone and microphones who give legitimate broadcasters a bad name. Some people think it will hurt their gate but I've been involved in television and online broadcasts for some time and I've actually seen evidence to the contrary. Either way, schools should be very selective of who comes in and does their broadcasts, because with Facebook broadcasts anyone is capable of hopping on there and running down kids, officials and coaches.

The way I understood, WPRG will be going live like 6 nights a week. Is this true?

It was in the training I had to do through KHSAA website for my rules clinic to be a coach. One of the first slides says in 2024 every sporting event will be streamed live

Breathitt, Wolfe and Owsley all use BSN.

I’m not a big fan of NFHS. Their cameras are wall mounted remotes that don’t always  keep up with the action and some don’t have score or time. The signal comes and go. And most games I’ve watched when I had the service had no broadcasters doing the game.
I don’t think the KHSAA will ever mandate a particular service that all schools will have to use. They might mandate that all schools use a stream service but one of their choice, but that’s about it.
