This is the Wolfe team everyone expected to see at the start of the year. Wilgus and Jaz both looked like top 5 players in the region. Elijah Tolson hit open shots and had some tremendous finishes at the rim. Skylar Ritchie played great defense on Mcguire and rebounded well. Wolfe capitalized on turnovers and had a ton of fast break layups. They slowed the ball down on offense and created great looks for teammates instead of forcing themselves into one on one situations. Great defense from everyone as well. First game Wolfe has played as a complete team. This team will be TOUGH to beat when they play as a whole

As for their offense when they drive and kick to open shooters they’re hard to handle. Early on Wolfe was shooting too many contested shots now they’re passing up those shots to get a better shot for their teammates. Wolfe and Knott are still the Top 2 teams in the region in my opinion with Hazard, Leslie, Breathitt, and LCC also being contenders. Perry will be hurt by Duff leaving and drop them out of contention in my opinion.

Wolfe is improving but I still believe they have a much higher ceiling. They played well together against Knot but still forced some shots. At times Johnson looked great, other times instead of passing it a open teammate, he tried to do too much. I also think Thompson is forcing shots and that’s why he’s been struggling. He needs to settle down and let the game come to him.
Over the past two games, Elijah Tolson has been a real difference maker. He’s knocked down some big time shots.
Wilgus Tolson seems to have finally came to life. He looked like the best PG in the region tonight.
Skyler Richie also looked really good against Breathitt and a knot. He held his own against McGuire and that’s saying a lot for a freshman.
If Wolfe plays as a team, they will be almost unbeatable in the region.

I watched Wolfe lose early games to Knott and Hazard, and watched them beat Breathitt and Knott in the past week, and the difference I think is the effort on the defensive end, they all play really good position defense, and are going to the board. Johnson has been a difference maker all season as he is having a phenomenal year, in the last few games there has been others hitting shots, and when Wolfe hits shots and plays as hard as they have been lately, they are the team everyone thought they were.

Johnson’s is the difference maker when he’s not forcing shots and playing team basketball.

Wolfe goes as Johnson goes. I’ve always been impressed with his game. His dad was a phenomenon player too back in the day.

Wolfe county is loaded with talent, no need for Johnson or any player on that team shoot bad shots. If they play together, they’ll rip through the region. If not, then they’ll fall to a team like Perry Central on any given night.(01-30-2021, 11:07 AM)I’m eky.sports.fan Wrote: I watched Wolfe lose early games to Knott and Hazard, and watched them beat Breathitt and Knott in the past week, and the difference I think is the effort on the defensive end, they all play really good position defense, and are going to the board. Damron lead the team with 26 pts. He had a great shooting night. Played the best of all Patriots. Napier had 18pts. McGuire struggled on offense end, double and triple, teamed but played well defensively. Shepherd had some turnovers and not at 100% playing with ankle taped and braced I was told. Makes it hard to move like he had been. Patriots have to have McGuire scoring in the paint to win. We saw it when he went out with injury last year, Wolfe knew it, that’s why they collapsed on him with 3 guys when he touched the ball. Wolfe had a good game plan. Great defense. McGuire and Shepherd both on bench for the entire 4th quarter and Patriots only lost by 8. People are saying this was the best Wolfe has played all year, and this was possibly the worst Knott played all year. Both teams, playing their best basketball, I’d take Knott.

McGuire went out late in the 3rd and Knott was already down 8-10 points and he hadn’t done anything offensively all game due to Wolfe’s defense. Knott out played Wolfe in the 1st game and Wolfe out played Knott in the 2nd game. At this point it’s a toss up and whoever comes to play on a given night is who will win.(01-30-2021, 01:55 AM)4ever witness Wrote: Big win for wolf. Johnson is the most talented player on that team. Does he press a little too much sometimes, yes. But he has to be a leader. I think he was trying to carry the team (early on) because the others were not playing well.
They seem to be getting together now. If this continues, they will be a hard out come tourney time.
