Some schools hang banners for District championships & some schools only hang banners for State championships.
I've been in a lot of gyms across Kentucky and through the miracle of the Interwebs and social media, we can be in just about any gym we want with a few clicks.

So that got me thinking, how does your school display their championship history?

The two most common types of recognition I've commonly seen are.....
- Massive team photos on the wall.
- District/Region championship banners/signs.

Usually trophy cases outside the gym with a special trophy case for state level competition (State Champs, Runners-Up, Sectional/Semi-State).



If you have any historic players like Mr./Ms. Basketball, NBA players or historic college players.... how does your school honor them, if at all?

One school that comes to mind that only hangs banners for state championships is Henry Clay.

At Johnson Central, we used to have banners only for boys and girls basketball district & regional championships. If a team won the region, a massive team photo would be placed on the wall.

When our gym was re-modeled a few years back, the team photos came down, but other sports teams got banners hung up for their post-season accomplishments.
Wrestling, Cheerleading, Volleyball, individual school record holders and individual state wrestling champions.

UHA has banners to list years they've won district, and region, all a region, and all a state. They have team photos for each all a state title team and the overall state title team.

They have an individual banner for their one KHSAA State title.

At this point they only have one banner honoring a player. UHA Great, Clemson ACC Player of the year and NBA veteran coach and player, Greg Buckner.

Team photos at Betsy Layne are blown up and hung along side the roster at the Dome. We only have the All A State Championship with some regional titles from back in the day and that's what they all have done for them.

In the new Junior Newsome Arena they said only banners were going to be hung.
