Belfry at Pikeville 9/18/2020
#1
People are going to whine and say way too early. Here are several reasons why I posted this now.

1. I'm not a wussy and locked in typing from under my bed.
2. As of now there is football in KY.
3. This might be Belfry's first game because no Alter and nobody is lining up to play Belfry on 9/11 or any other week.
4. I've always thought you better get Belfry early if you want to get them because you probably won't get them late.
5. And last but certainly not least IT'S FINALLY TIME TO TALK FOOTBALL ON HERE!!!

Should be interesting. I’m sure Coach Haywood will be desperately trying to find an opponent for Sept 11th. I think both teams will get better as the season progresses. I also think both teams will be the favorite in their respective classes to get back to Kroger Field. Long ways off.....but at least we can talk about it now.

^^^Exactly.

Thanks for posting jp. This season may be one of those rare seasons that Pikeville's line may be bigger than Belfry's. Now don't misunderstand, bigger not better. Going to see some young faces replacing starters from last season, no doubt. Should see the Sayer twins coming back on both sides of the ball, both at around 290lbs. Defensively, Landon Hammock should take his spot at tackle, although he played some at the guard position last season on the offense, however his strong suit is defense. Landon goes about 270 lbs. If Jacoby Thornsbury starts at dt, he goes about 290 lbs. or more. Offensive front five should average about 260 lbs. so i'm told. For a class A team that's quite a bit of beef.

That’s a big line regardless of class. So what is the latest in the RB out of Virginia? Has he officially transferred? Staying in VA now that they plan on playing in December? He is a difference maker

VA moved football to spring as of a couple days ago. Have they changed it?
First game March 1 if I remember correctly. I wouldn't trust VA to play at all but that's just me wink wink.

That's what i keep hearing Gus. Line is supposed to be HUGE.

I dig your enthusiasm, Jet. But let’s not overlook our first game on 9/11@ Raceland.
#11
I just hope they get to play. Especially this year these young men can’t overlook any game because in the times we are living in you never know when it will be your last game. Still worried about the next meeting of the Khsaa meeting right before football seasons starts to get real. Just in case I have already called NASA to get me a spaceman suit and 500 gallons of alcohol to spray it down after every game so this old man can attend the games, just kidding JetPilot. As always and for the first time this year GO PANTHERS!!!

I hear you loud and clear. Will be a tough game. Just thought Belfry would generate more interest on here early. Raceland fans hibernating for the time being lol.

Hope you're right....but that's easier said than done. While Belfry does have a lot of pieces back....you can bet their offensive timing will still be in the very early stages. Also.....Belfry has to develop some D-Line help. Honestly, you hate to lineup against Pikeville as your very first opponent. Should be interesting.
#16
Belfry needs to win this game or else RPI is going to be a beast for them in their playoff seeding.

Belfry will be significant underdogs against North Hardin and Johnson Central, but without a full slate of games and a weak District number, this is Belfry's best shot at scoring major RPI values against a team likely to win all of their other games.

This game alone may swing Belfry's seeding 5 or 6 spots depending on if they win or lose.

Just between us girls... what worries me more than timing is Belfry ALWAYS seems to be missing 4 or 5 key starters once the season begins.

Whether snakebit or there is some perennial issue in sports medicine/training that isn't being addressed, but it seems no team in KY has more key early season injuries than Belfry.

This is a legitimate concern. For the past several years...Belfry has always been behind the the eight ball when it comes to injuries. Many of those come in quirky ways ....often in non contact situations.

Just one way too early opinion:

Lots of new faces on defense for Pikeville trying to stop Dixon & company on the ground - Advantage Belfry

Pikeville dynamic offense led by McNamee will put enough points on the board to beat everyone on their schedule most nights and getting Belfry early helps - Advantage Pikeville

One guy's way too early prediction: Pikeville with Adkins, Pikeville wins.
Pikeville w/o Adkins, tossup.

Heard from reliable sources that Adkins is staying @ Ridgeview....

Good for him. I hope VA has football, but I wouldn't trust their governor as far as I could throw him. He is the worst.

So as far as Pikeville/Belfry I am firmly in the tossup camp.

If jet thinks it is a tossup, then I really like Belfry's chances.... that's like Frosty Davis saying he is having a hard time giving Pikeville the edge.

Seriously though, I am not looking forward to MacNamee against a thin Belfry D-Line and a secondary losing what Belfry lost (weren't exactly the Legion of Boom as it was).

Should be a great one..

Not willing to state an opinion either way at this point. However....IF they get to play.....I'm expecting a high scoring affair.

I thought it was a tossup last year too.
And the Belfry radio crew (who I think are excellent) = 10x homers Frosty is haha...

I will just be so happy if there is football that I probably won't even talk trash this year lol...:truestory:

I know we do this every year, but does anybody have a season by season W/L record with the scores of this game?

Shoutout to http://www.fourseasonsfootball.com!

Great site if noone is aware of it for historical games, whoever it is that is doing that is working his butt off to find history.

The most recent historical figures has the series now at 38-31-2 in Belfry's favor.
