1. Will Jeff Honeycutt step down from Knott Central at the end of the season? Who is in line to replace him?
2. It is looking like this will be Randy Napier's last year on the sidelines at Perry County Central. There are many names coming up in the conversation to replace him. (Jon Walker, Misty MacAlarnis, Harold Brashear, Kevin Whitman, John Noble)
3. Will Hailee Mullins play at Hazard or will she end up back at Knott County Central?
4. Who will be the coach at Hazard next season? (Jon Walker, Harold Brashear, Larry Caudill, Vearnell Williams, Candi Fannin)
5. Is this Ken Jones' last season at Powell County?

1. Could see that. Not sure who would take over.
2. Yep, be interesting to see who actually applies for the position.
3. Not looking like she will this season. Maybe next.
4. Thatâs a good question. Heâs being saying one more for the last 10 or so..

On a serious note, I hear that Rex Fronaphel is who Perry is after.

My predictions
1. Honeycutt will be coach at Knott County, if not Meghan Mosley
2. I think Napier is done, McAlarnis is my first guess
3. Mullins will play for hazard next year
4. Caudill will coach at Hazard if not, I'd say Walker
5. Jones will never retire

If Perry didnât give it to one of the assistants that have been there for 15-20 years it would be a hard pill to choke down. All have been around since Randy won his state title in some form of fashion. If people that have coached under the winners girls coach in KY history for the last 20 years arenât qualified I donât know who is.

Excellent questions..
1. Honeycutt will go one more year, to see how it feels A.J (after Jada)...they go sub .500 and he's done..Mosley girl is up next!!
2. Coach Napier will sail his final voyage this season with my Lady Commodores...honestly I hope its no one on that list you mentioned..Sorry!
3. No way Haley Mullins plays at Hazard ever...she will be in Knott Co or the 15th next year......if she plays at all...sad situation her dad got her into.
4. Caudill is done at hazard..and so is daughter Caudill. They will pursue Harold first. He won't take it and they will give it to Walker. Which I think is a bad situation, if you ask me.
5. Ken Jones final season will be 2036-2037.

Be sad to see Coach Napier go, been around forever, legend!
No way Hazard will go after Brashear. Honestly, I don't think Walker will take Hazard, he has turned it down twice already.
You are 100% right about Jones

1. If Knott County wins the region, I can see Honeycutt walking away, especially since he seems interested in coaching his son.
2. I think Napier is definitely considering retiring. He has nothing left to prove. John Noble is probably the top choice, but I don't see him leaving the boys side. Girls basketball is a different animal. I don't see Whitman wanting the job. MacAlarnis would definitely apply. Just depends if Perry wants to go in a different direction. I can't see Walker or Brashear.
3. Who knows about Mullins? She played a lot for Knott and wasn't happy. She was a main player for the top team in the region and wasn't happy.
4. I think Caudill is done at Hazard. I think the daughter stays. Who knows though? They had a hard time filling the job before. A lot probably depends on the new superintendent and principal.
5. Jones will probably die on the sidelines.

1. Good points, Honeycutt will have a lot to consider.
2. Had not heard Noble was interested. Very interesting...Heard Perry is already in the process of finding a new coach.
3. Any word on eligibility at Hazard?
4. Just one more!

1. Possible he will step down, been doing it a long time, and I believe will still coach his son at Emmalena Elementary
2. Coach Napier has been doing this a long time and we will all miss his crazy antics on the sidelines after he retires this year. I believe Whitman will be mad because they will not offer him the job. It is possible they may offer Misty McAlarnis the job if they are not too mad she left for Breathitt. She is doing a great job down at Breathitt and may not even want to come back. Brashear could be an option, but I think they will go with someone from out of the area, we will have to wait and see what the good ole boys can drum up. Coach Noble wouldn't go to girls, his daughter cheers, so he has no reason to stop coaching the boys. He does such a great job with them, don't think he would ever change.
3. She will play at Hazard next year, if they don't get an injunction this year and let her play the rest of the season.
4. Coach Caudill has done a good job at Hazard, but he is definitely one and done. He didn't realize what all came with the job and don't think he is enjoying it as much as he thought he would. He has already said he is done after the season. I really believe that John Walker will be the next coach at Hazard. But it will definitely be the NEW superintendents and NEW principals call and we will just have to wait and see how it all plays out.
5. He will be at Powell as long as he wants to be. He is still winning games and still walking the sidelines very well. Hope he keeps on going, he wouldn't have anything to do if he retired.

The perry job is Brashears if he wants it. They contacted him last year and asked if he was interested if Napier retired but he obviously didn’t. And it also depends on who gets the superintendent and principal job at hazard because they have already reached out to him but talking to him i do t know if he wants to coach anywhere
02-09-2019, 06:16 AM
Well if he wants to coach girls Hazard would be way ahead of PCC for the next couple of years with their guards. Be a hard sell to get him to pick PCC over Hazard. My question would be why stop coaching Hazard in the 1st place if you want to coach?

She played at Leslie County.

He was forced out, according to a teacher at Hazard, there was some major financial problems with the program, I'm guessing Red Book. If any of the current administration stays at Hazard he won't be coaching there. But again that's just hear-say.

I would say $15,000 in the red and no receipts for some items r financial problems. Just ask Hazard AD or board members
02-09-2019, 08:49 PM
I'm not saying this is fact or even a rumor but with the changes the school board is making, could Estill County be looking at new coaches next season? They made changes with both football and softball.
02-10-2019, 04:54 AM
No way Estill gets rid of Coach Bentley. The man won the region last year. Now the girls coach might be a different story.

Deacon Lane Wrote:1. Will Jeff Honeycutt step down from Knott Central at the end of the season? Who is in line to replace him?Who knows for sure on this one. He still has a good team, with some youth and I look for them to be tough next year and beyond.
Honecutt ain't going nowhere folks.

I just don't see Randy Napier leaving PCC, not this year anyway.
3. Will Hailee Mullins play at Hazard or will she end up back at Knott County Central?
Now this one is questionable. She's definitely out for Hazard this year, but she'll be a Senior next year under Coach Larry Caudill. With the Lady Dawgs losing their only Senior in Simone Beverly, this leaves enough room for Mullins. Either way, should be a tough team next year.
4. Who will be the coach at Hazard next season? (Jon Walker, Harold Brashear, Larry Caudill, Vearnell Williams, Candi Fannin)
Larry Caudill has (so far) had a winning record as head coach and I don't think he'll go anywhere until his daughter graduates. Look forward to seeing more of him over the next 2 years.
5. Is this Ken Jones' last season at Powell County?
Just my 2 cents.

The program was $7,000 in the red but the program was also $7,000 in the red when Brashear took over not to mention his fund raisers would have paid that off in the summer. And the coach never touched the money there was a boosters club that took the money and counted it and two people had to sign off on it every time so if there was a problem maybe people should talk to them. And i talk to the hazard AD all the time and he has never said anything like that. And at the board meeting everything was accounted for so iâm not sure what you are talking about
02-10-2019, 07:38 AM
Coming from a rival school, it's gonna be a sad day when we stop seeing that red towel over the shoulder trademark that Coach Jones has had.

It would be stupid to fire Bentley. He's easily a Top 3 Coach in the Region. Top 5 at the very worst. Why would they fire the girls coach?
02-15-2019, 09:06 PM
Jon Walker is probably not going to be coaching anywhere anytime soon!
03-01-2019, 03:41 AM
In reply to Patriot Train, you are wrong about Coach Whitman being mad not getting the Perry Central job should Coach Napier retire. He has already stepped down as assistant coach because he was finding it harder and harder to go from one sport to another. He told me he was going to continue as girls head soccer coach and that he was going to miss the girls on this years team very much. In my opinion this will be a hard staff to replace, Coach Napier is a legend and Coach Whitman is one of the best assistant coaches I have ever seen.
03-01-2019, 06:07 AM
Perry isnât the job it was 10 years ago. They better go with a coach that will stay for several years cause itâs going to be a rebuild not walk in and be a Regional contender.
03-01-2019, 06:09 AM
I do think Honeycutt will get out after this season and focus on his son. If B.B. leaves the boys he might make the move over to Boys.
Hazard will have to find a coach that can control really good players as a team.

Why is everyone mentioning Jon Walker? Wont he do time over what happened at South? Maybe I missed something.
