I am just asking a question, as I have seen this called a lot this year in the 14th region. A post position player has established defensive position. Offensive player drives in and makes contact with the defensive player. Again, defensive player has position and straight up (does not even jump). Fouls are being called on defensive player a lot from what I am seeing. Again, just asking the question not pointing out any ref and anything.

It happens in a number of regions.

Are they bumping with their body or after having their hands up are they slapping down at the last second?

Yes sometimes there is a slap down with hands. But usually straight up. Just seems to be inconsistencies during games. I guess it is more of a judgement call. Just seems like the defensive players are picking up a lot of cheap fouls during games. I always thought if you had position, no foul. May be just me, but seems like 14th region calls fouls like this more than other regions.

You come down with the hands and you'll earn the foul call (deservedly).
Obviously, there are judgment calls, but I typically see no-calls when the players are straight up and do not come down with the hands.

A lot of our players do get in good position to begin with, but a lot of times they like to play the roll of shot blocker, so instead of standing straight up and probably causing the offense to miss the shot, they like to slap at ball real quick right at the end and then stick their hands back straight up like they didn't do anything and it looks to everyone that they were straight up. Also when the offense starts to go around the defensive player they like to keep their hands up and slide to the left or right and bump the offensive player as well as they go by which is also a foul. And of course we do have some officials that do call fouls on the defense for standing straight up and the offense initiating all the contact which is not correct. Definitely a hard job and split second decision making skills are a must, some are just better than others. Part of the game. And everyones angle of the play is different so it looks different to everyone.

In this area (Eastern KY), a charge foul is as rare as a hen's tooth. Then our kids get into the State Tourney and get drilled because of it.
Sad state of affairs, but all too true.

as the player drives and go up for the shot she has to have a place to land if she makes contact with the defence player body contact will be called this sucks for the big girls standing with there hands up

Officiating is messed up nowadays. Seems like they are always making the wrong call in the biggest of games. Just the way I see it. smh.
