Russell was up 40-26 in the 3rd quarter and then 43-32 to start the 4th quarter and was outplaying Greenup County on both the offense and defense. Playing on Greenup County home floor has always been a tough place to play for most teams. I agree with you on that Russell is a very young team and lost 3 or 4 veteran players but Russell had this game in the bag from the 1st quarter to the opening of the 4th quarter. Then Russell just stopped playing in the last quarter and I don't know if it was the youth thinking they had this game won to start the 4th or GC waited until the 4th quarter and OT to show up and play basketball tonight. I thought since finally not having to face Gage Hughes that averaged 30 ppg. and 10 Rpg. and how well Russell looked in the 2 scrimmages I thought Russell would win tonight. This was a tough loss to take on the road after the young players were playing well the first 3 quarters and let it slip in the 4th quarter and OT. I believe this Russell team is better than last year's team and will continue to improve and the youth will come along and could be a dangerous team this year. They have some exciting Freshman and Sophomores to go along with Junior guard Tristan Miller and junior Center Malakai Anderson. Russell now has to face one of the best 3-4 teams in the 16th Region Tomorrow night in Morgan County and we will see how tough this young team can bounce back and play after this tough loss on the road at Greenup County in OT.

IMO Russell needs to play a game or 2 before playing in a tough environment at the greenhouse. I think it would help get ready for a 63rd District seed game with Greenup. Greenup County had 2 games under their belt coming into this one which I feel probably benefited them.
