Bardstown @ Bath County 11/2
#1
Bardstown makes the journey east on the BG Parkway and I-64 to the 606 to play Bath County in round 1.

Bardstown comes in 5-5 and the #3 seed from 3A D3. Their wins come over teams with a combined record of 12-38. They are young and athletic and look to be a force in the coming seasons. Bardstown started the season 4-1 and finished 1-4.

Bath County comes in 7-3 and the runner up from 3A D5. Their wins come over teams with a combined record of 33-37. They are Senior dominant with size on both sides of the ball (8 Srs. and 3 Jrs. start defense: 9 Srs. and 2 Jrs. on offense). Landan Swartz has rushed for over 4,000 yards in the past 2 seasons and is one of the best running backs in the state. Bath County started the season 4-1 and finished 3-2.

Depends on which HC shows up for Bath county. If it’s the open minded coach who throws in a pass play every now and then, bath wins by 2 scores. If it’s the stubborn coach who wants to run the same plays with a 10 man line the whole game, then Bardstown.

Here we go again. It’s like if you don’t pass the ball, no one is interested in you. Did you know Russell hasn’t ran a pass play in two weeks. They ran away with the game at Bath, and lost by 7 to a very good Raceland team. Running the ball is what Bath does best. And that is what they should stick to. Bardstown will not be able to defend a power running attack like Bath has. Enough is enough. Either support the team or get off the wagon. What makes you think passing the ball will increase Bath’s chances of winning?

Oh okay, well let’s put 10 men on the line and see what happeneds Friday, it will be a west carter game all over again. Wait and see

So all Bath does is run 10 men on the line? They can’t do anything else?

Russell ran a few pass plays against Raceland but not enough to loosen the Raceland defense enough to win. Most of the time if you have a good run defense you're playing against, you need to pass to open up running lanes. Not many teams can win a state Championship by just running every play on offense unless your oline is just that much better than the other teams dline.

The Russell Defense kept them in the game with Raceland.

Good luck to Bath County this week.

You’ll get beat by a team better than you?

Hey fans how about we let the West Carter game go ok? It was a bad loss caused by turnovers in bad conditions. The same thing happened to West Carter the next week vs Fleming County: a bad loss caused by turnovers in even worse conditions.

Now let’s go support to team as they have earned a home playoff game and have a chance to win and advance. It’s only the 3rd home playoff game in 21 years. So how about we support the boys Friday and get off here because that’s what’s it’s about and nothing or no one else.

I enjoy reading post about fans being upset with the style of offense coaches use. Before Poynter arrived Bath Co. struggled. He now has a home playoff game and fans upset. Poynter knows who to win games. You don't have to throw the ball to win. Ask folks at Belfry.

This should be one of the better games in 3A. I’m picking Bath Co. for my college teammate Andre Jones.

How did that dynamic Johnny Poynter offense work out last night? 7-4 and 1st round playoff loss was not what was expected for this team. As I’ve said before...coaching malpractice.
