Thoughts and predictions?

I've been hearing a "little chatter" about the Collins family possibly moving back to Breathitt, from Montgomery County. I don't know how accurate it is, but if it's true, Charles Collins would be one of the best running backs in the mountains, as a junior. Personally, I would love to see this happen. It definitely would be something positive for a program that has dealt with so much adversity over the past five or six years.

BC should have a good group of younger guys. I look for them to right the ship.

Who is QB1 this season? Heard the Stacy kid has had some problems with blood clots and will not be playing. Is that true?

I haven't heard anything about this, but if it's true, that would be a "big hit" to the offense. If I'm not mistaken, this would have been his fourth year as a starter. With practice starting today, I guess we will know soon. Keep us posted Bull.

Either way I look for minor improvements in wins but expect to see better play defensively. He did have surgery a couple months ago according to his Facebook page. Wish him the best .

If I'm not mistaken, I think the rosters automatically carry over from the previous season. Every roster is updated on KHSAA with no schedules for all sports for a lot of teams...
Surely if coaches were gonna update their roster they'd update their schedule while their at it?

Breathitt remains on the downhill spiral.... Pride and tradition has been lost.... Hurts me to see a program that has been so high, continue to get so low. The leadership from central office to the field of play has tucked their tails and basically given up on what was once a giant in the community and on the football field.

I thought we would show some improvement this year, by only losing two starters from last years team. How are they giving up on the program?

Good times or bad we will be there for the boys.

I would hope that no one involved in the program at this time would be happy with the current state of the program. That being said, there is no excuse for anyone to bad mouth the kids or be negative, it does no good. Let's move on and do the best with what we have. Go Bobcats! Remember, No, excuses!

I hope they arenât happy either... Itâs a downright shame to be honest. I didnt point out a kid or kids. it not all their fault. They must be lead.... like it or not football is a 365 day a year sport/job. You have to lift, run in the off-season. Practice hard with your team in the spring. And you should really be hitting it now and especially come Monday to get better. Who are the coaches? I heard there was a big change in that as well. I want breathitt football back as much as any poster on here. The community, kids, stadium, locker room deserve it! There was a lot of blood, sweat and tears that made the riverbank what it was..

There was a lot of blood, sweat and tears that made the riverbank what it was..The people in charge now were part of the program in the so called "glory years" of BHS football. They know what it takes to win titles and to compete at the top level. That being said, all the pieces are not the same as far as players, coaches, etc.. it was a perfect mesh of personalities and skills on all levels that impacted the program during the decade of dominance. That is just my opinion. Hopefully we will see a focus on defense this season. If we do, I think we see a return to BHS football we all expect. If they do not score, they do not win. Simple.

Going back and reading what I typed I need to clarify what was meant. I know it is tough to stop some teams from scoring, but it is clear that there has been a lack of focus on defense at Breathitt in the past few seasons. In my opinion a team needs a consistent defense 1st in order to be a contender on any level. It is not simple to keep teams off the scoreboard, but it is simple to put more focus on defense and there are simple steps that one can implement to improve defensive effectiveness.

I heard he had surgery about a month ago to remove a rib, due to blood clots. As far as him being out for the year, I don't know. I've been hearing that O'Hara is currently the QB. He is one of the best athletes on the team.

Is that the OâHair boy that went to Estill last year?

I will be looking at the defense, and it will show game 1 against Mongomery County. We can not give up 40 points a game and expect to win. And by 40 I am being generous by recent scores and that has been with the other team showing restraint.

Well crap. But it really does not matter because they could have super man back there and if they can not stop the other team from scoring they will be average at best. Focus on defense and improve.

O'Hara is a sophomore and I have heard he is a great athlete, who has a lot of upside. I am hoping Stacy will be able to play, because O'Hara is an athlete that the bobcats could use in the backfield or at the WR position. I agree with your comments pertaining to the defense. Surely, there is improvement from last year, with losing only two starters from last years unit. If the defense doesn't improve, it will be another long year in Jackson. Who is coaching the defense this year, Bull?

Wish Cameron the best in his future with his health and such. Blood clots are nothing to mess around with especially if they had to take a rib out.
