LONDON, Ky. (WKYT) - Former UK basketball player and Agriculture Commissioner of Kentucky Richie Farmer is in jail after London police arrested him for DUI.
Farmer, 48, was booked into the Laurel County Detention Center at 6:34 p.m.
He served a 27-month sentence for misappropriating government resources while in office, including having state workers build a basketball court for him at his house. He pleaded guilty in federal court and circuit court in the fall of 2013 to government corruption charges.
He reported to the United States Penitentiary-Hazelton in Bruceton, West Virginia in March 2014.
In addition to prison time, Farmer was ordered to pay the state more than $120,000 in restitution.
