Predictions: Breathitt County at Owsley County
#1
Owsley will win by 15+. Breathitt has no answer for Gibson.
#2
Owsley by 25+. This game could get really ugly for Breathitt
#3
Owsley by 25/30. Shouldn't be close. No answer for the offensive weapons Owsley has.
#4
OC by 20, maybe more. Lots of young talent the Owls bring in with Gibson at the head.
Breathitt is down this year, losing their best talent to neighboring school and lack of experience on the coaching staff, in particular the top spot. Goes to show you, hire and retain those who know and can produce results, not someone's cousin or brother in law.

I don’t know a thing about Breathitt this year but if we’re going on history I’d be careful predicting 25 to 30 point wins over the Bobcats. Breathitt is still Breathitt. Not saying they’ll win the game but I’m not sure about the huge loss predictions.

Just to give you some insight, the owls played Breathitt in the summer with Amy Brewer still in a Breathitt uniform, who is now at estill and was by far Breathitts best player. Owsley was without Gibson and they still won the game by 30 or so, not sure on exact score. That is what I’m making my prediction based on.

Gibson and the Lady Owls to high powered for the Lady Bobcats. Lady Owls by 25+.

This isn't the Breathitt of old...they are down on talent and the new 'coach' has so much as touched a basketball on the hardwood in his entire life. He simply doesn't know the game. Going to be an uphill battle for the Lady Bobcats this year and a few to come.

Wow!
I didn’t realize they had fallen that far.
Uncommon for Breathitt.

No match in this one. Long year for Breathitt. Hope they can rebuild.

Exactly. Can we really blame the girls that transferred to different schools from this squad? I mean we ask the girls to sacrifice so much to play this game and represent the school and community and what does the school system do? Hire a guy that never played basketball in his life and never coached. Was hired because of cronyism and nepotism (school board chairman's first cousin). Can we really ask so much of these kids and then have the school system think so little of their efforts with this hire?

It is not necessary for a coach to have played. Just look at the coaches that have been players that have not been successful. I do not know who this Coach is and hope his knowledge of basketball, strategy and development is the reason they hired him, but I have seen some weird decisions around here. Wish the kidsthe best and expect them kids play hard and improve.

Final from Booneville 64-39. Owsley wins easily behind Gibson’s 27 points.

You know very little of basketball if you suggest a coach can be effective without having played or even been around the game. No coaching experience either, come on now. Example, I think most here in east ky. know very little about soccer. How would you like being handed to reigns to a soccer team and told, "ok, now go be a successful soccer team." This guy is about 27 years old with this level of basketball knowledge being handed one of the top 5 coaching jobs in the region.

Breathitt really isn’t that bad of a team, they have 2 really nice players but the drop off after those 2 is significant. With that being said I understand what everyone is saying but he didn’t exactly fall into the greatest position at Breathitt. Not saying he wont be successful down the road but you can’t exactly expect him to win 25 games with the team he has. If you are you’re setting yourself up for some disappointment
#16
I get your point about level of talent and him not falling into greatest of situations, but fact is there were some very capable coaches that applied for this position. I'm afraid we would be setting ourselves up for disappointment also if we thought this coach was going to develop talent.

I agree most qualified should have gotten the job but unfortunately in the world we live in that isn’t always the case. Unfortunate for the kids really
