McCracken Co 40 Henderson Co 25

Outstanding job Mustangs!! Another big hurdle out of the way toward defending the District 1 championship.

Both sides played a tough and hard hitting game. Although tied at half 19-19, Henderson seemed to outplay the Mustangs in the first half. Henderson had a huge turnover to set up McCracken's first TD. McCracken got more stops than Henderson in the second half for the difference. The 4Q was all McCracken as they appeared to be a bit more fresh. Once the Colonels got down by 15 with 7:08 remaining, it was tough with there style of offense. They were forced into pass mode. Some defensive penalties helped move the chains twice but several sacks left no time for a comeback.

High praise to #1 Skip Patterson for Henderson. The kid is a bruiser, a beast, and great athlete. He very rarely goes down by 1 or 2 tacklers. A warrior too, as he played through what appeared to be an ankle injury late in the 2nd half. Thanks to the Henderson fans, band, and workers for a great atmosphere on a beautiful night. The playing of My Old Kentucky Home is always special.
