Why isn't there one? I know JC has tried several times to get one going but can't get enough teams to participate. Also, why won't teams play each other? I don't understand this when it comes to JV and Freshmen, most of the time these are the girls not getting minutes on varsity and they need the in game experience. JC I know has tried to contact Paintsville, Pikeville, Pike Central, Belfry, and Betsy Layne but never get a reply. Does anyone on here know the reason? I think in order to keep girls basketball going at such a high pace in eastern KY you need to develop young talent and in order to do this they must play games. If they don't they will likely quit the team.

One of the problems that teams are faced with is the fact that they don't have any depth in their teams. For example, if a 15th region JV tourney were established, most of the players that play/dress varsity would have to go to this tournament. If those players are playing in the JV tournament, who will that leave at the gym to practice with the varsity? Juniors and Seniors. Futhermore, it has always been preached from JV down through elementary school that the players play and practice to get ready for Varsity District and Regional tournaments. I for one feel that if this type of tournament were started, it would tarnish the Varsity tournaments. However, I do feel that more JV and Freshman games need to be played. These younger players need more in game experience to raise the level of play on the varsity level. But once again, if your playing all of these games, who stays at the gym to practice with the Juniors and Seniors?

I have to agree also, I know younger kids need the playing time but for example on LC's team we only have 3 seniors and NO juniors. So the rest of the team is made up of sophomores down to 7 th graders.
