Will Clay let another one of their wins from last season slip through their hands this week? This win will be for a playoff berth if I am not mistaken and with South Laurel coming up it might be our last shot at winning another game this season.
I've got my Tigers getting tough on the road and pulling out a 21-7 win.

Like I called it in the West Jess thread, we will get our qb back this week. Still don't think we have enough to win tho. We have been shut out more this season than the previous 3 seasons combined. Only way to go is up cause I believe we have hit rock bottom.

I would love to say the Tigers get a win, but I just don't see it. If this game were at home, possibly. At Russell County, I gotta take the Lakers. Hope I am wrong.

I believe we break our streak without a point and score this week....however it still isn't going to be pretty

How can we fix it? is it time to hit reset on the whole football program? I am as clueless as anybody at this point.

To me its very simple to get success at Clay County.
1. Have two 8th grade teams and two 7th grade teams (Team A and Team B for both classes) This would allow more kids to play and fall in love with the sport. Even though I love to win, it really doesn't matter for the overall picture.
2. Make freshman and JV a priority. I understand that many times these young players need to be hitting dummies for the Varsity because of the low numbers but that only hurts you later on. Make these young players know they are special!!
3. Play simple football but do it Right!!! run the football and play great defense. Also, we have to put time and effort into our special teams. Clay County has always been a joke on special teams. ITS a THIRD OF THE GAME!!!!!
4. Clay County needs good quality grade school coaches. We have a few but some our outright JOKES!!!
5. Encourage your players to play multiple sports!
6. Have an IN-school weight lifting class. If they get their lifting done at school.... Encourage them to go out and get jobs. I'm sure many of these young men see laziness at home but change their minds about that.
7. We have to have our coaches at the School!! How can we lead these young men if we do not work there?? Be seen! Grade checks! Let these students especially the young men know YOU CARE!!
8. KILL philosophy = Keep it Likeable and learn able and the KISS philosophy = Keep it Simple Stupid.
9. Up-date the weight room for all the team sports!
In my humble opinion and you know what they say about opinions: this is your recipe for success at Clay County.

I like all the ideas presented, I just see it taking a few years to get everything in place at this point. Would having two middle school teams be feasible numbers wise? Will Eddie be given the opportunity moving forward to the get the program aligned?

Yes, Eddie SHOULD be given the opportunity to move the program forward. From my point of view it has to be a guy from Clay County to turn this around. Coach Smith will need to work with the middle school and take control of grade school football. After three years, he should then be re-evaluated.

That would be good, If it's somebody from Clay it HAS to be Eddie, none of the other coaches from here are ready. Still think it would be good to have a couple of them work under Eddie for a few years to learn the ropes. I think Eddie is the best man for the job right now out of all the possible candidates and that's including all the ones from here and the other names that will surely come up at the end of the season. If we could get the numbers I think that would be great to have multiple middle school teams to play.

Hopefully the staff and administration gets something figured out. After the 8-4 season they had 2010, its like the school forgot about the football program. Clay County's record from 2011-2016 will end up being 11-54. I know there are athletes in Manchester, are they not coming out for the football team?

As far as this game goes, I do not see the Tigers winning this game since it is in Russell Springs, but I think it will be a good game.

I read on a post from another thread that you know as much about your tigers, "as bubba knows about shrimp." If you think being qualified has anything to do with who gets coaching positions, at any level, in Clay County. Well, Forest must have been the brains of the operation.

Good to know somebody reads my nonsense. With the way it worked out last time, I don't even know what qualified means anymore, part of me is afraid if Ed don't get it what we might end up with.
