We are in trouble and with no change in sight for at least next year it will be worse than this year and it will take 4 or 5 years to even start to fix it now it is Sad
I don't know how much Casey Co. will lose to graduation, but Bell could be looking a 4th place finish next season if McCreary get's back in Dist. :HitWall:

I doubt the super picks the coach... the super, the principle, ad don't teach the kids discipline, blocking, tackling and fundamentals... the high ups don't put the product on the field, coaches do. Maybe The guy they hired was the best they could get.... I doubt there was a stack of applications to go thru given the situation all in eastern Ky is in... enrollment is way down, and no jobs... Look at Breathitt. They had jus as much tradition as Bell, same problems... enrollment down, state came in, no jobs.. and the sports program suffers. Everything Breathitt had worked for from 1994-2008 has gone down the drain....

I doubt Dudley Hilton and Mike Holcomb had supers and principals that gave them everything when they started. As a matter of fact, I know they didn't. It comes down to their motivation to succeed. They had Kids that were willing to do what it took to win. And they have several rings to show for it. Don't mean to talk in circles, maybe it is the coaches fault, maybe he is terrible, but maybe he is the best they could have gotten too. I just can't sit here and really believe it's the Super and Principals fault 100% that they got beat to death by Casey Co............. that's all.

Yeah coaching was terrible last year. 10-3 there was a lot of bad coaching.

Glad to see Casey having a big year. They have worked hard to put this kind of team together I'll be for the Hounds but expect a great game. Casey has got everybody's attention. This win is a big statement

U have no clue. Can't blame it on the kids and that is what u and the coaches are doing!!! It is not true. They are the same type of kids Bell county has won with for years.
The AD and principal hired this clown. When others interviewed they saw who they would work for and said no thanks. Supt put them in charge and fired the former Coach for very little reasons. They are to blame bottom line, not kids!
Stick to Breathit, perry and Corbin threads.

This is how quick things can change when you loose a great coach. It's not just Bell look how things are going for Breathitt and even Highlands. A lot of people like to say it's all about good players but I don't care if you got an all star team of players you got to have a coach to put it all together or those good players are going nowhere fast. I hope Bell gets things figured out.

Not really about the game but pertains to Bell. When we lost our coach (your previous one) we were smart enough to IMMEDIATELY hire his top assistant. And we don't do a lot of smart things concerning sports at Knox...... But that was very smart. I'm thinking Bell should have done the same thing.

Who did Bell try to hire and who are they looking to hire

Bell shouldn't have jerked Greg Duncum around and they would've had a good coach. Remember Duncum made north laurel competitive before anyone else did. Just sayin.

Oh I know, I'm not blaming the kids or fans. My comment was directed at the "decision makers" at bell. Don't get me wrong, I know that we will get bells best game, and it will be a fight. It is sad to see how far they have fallen though.

Bell should have never fired Coach Mills he's a very good Coach and had Bell going in the right direction it was a bad move for Bell

Looking at Middlesboro paper and see the Bell vs. Casey article. I found the quote below to be bothersome. It seems he pointing a finger at his players. Is he not the Coach???
Amos McCreary on his team.
“When someone can score 53 points on you, there isn’t a whole lot you can do to change that,” said McCreary. “We’re just not making any plays whatsoever. We haven’t had but maybe one interception all year. People are just throwing the ball at will. Up front, we’re not getting any pressure. We’re trying, but it’s just not happening.”
I really like the part there isn't a whole lot you can do to change that. WTH
I didn't realize Pineville was struggling as bad. Man it is a bad year for football in Bell County.

Looks like he is blaming everyone but himself. He is probably blaming the former coaches too.

Ultimately the principal chooses the coach. However, if you remember the thread about the coaching search made the BGR Hall of Fame, due to its' length.
I have it on good authority that they asked Mills back a couple of times. It just appeared that nobody wanted the position. The reason for that, I do not know but consider it a factor in the decline of the program. JMO

Hate to see proud programs come apart at the seams like Bell. Hope to see them return to firm next year. But let's not forget how far Casey County has come. Great job being done there.

Once they realized nobody in their right mind would touch bc the way Mills was let go they did ask him back. The entire situation was a total CF from the admistration from the beginning. Never should have fired him in the beginning.
Superindent knows zero about sports. Only came to 1 game in 20 years, just to give a speech while dedicating the new field then she left before the game. (She also wanted to name it for herself) Principal has no backbone and really don't care. Just wants to go sing at the local beer joint. AD is a clown. Spends more time watching Pineville than the school he gets paid to work for.
Then they wouldn't talk to a few qualified coaches only to chase white whales that weren't even interested. Once they burnt the bridges only person left was good ol Amos. Anyone wonder why nobody wanted it?
