Clay county doesn't play any team game what so ever and absolutely no defense. Like another person said in the game thread the post never touches the ball, if the ball would go to the post the perimeter shots would be open and not contested like we shoot every trip down. Anyway clay county should do everything in their power to Bring Shannon Hoskins back to clay. The man is doing more with less than anyone in the mountains and the players buy into him on both ends. South and Clay will be a wash between two overrated teams at this point.

Perry Central can flat out shoot the basketball. I'll be surprised if they are not representing the 14th region in Rupp.

Best shooting team and best team playing I have seen all year.

Very impressed with Perry County Central run and gun game. Damon Tobler is a beast one on one....I don't think nobody in the mountains can stop him inside. I thought Clay County showed tonight that not give- up attitude. Congratulations Perry County Central. :worthy:

Like I said, ladies...

If that jumper is falling for the Commodores they won't lose.

If not for a stretch in the third quarter where Perry committed some silly turnovers - this one could have gotten ugly.

Very proud of my Commodores! They have beat two very fine teams in Clay and Lawrence. If I were a big man for Clay I would have a serious talk with the two shooters on that team. Never touches the ball. It hurts their team.
#9
Congratulations Commodores. No quit in this bunch when Clay made their run to get back in the game. This team has the makings of a very special team. Playing team ball and shooting the lights out but they are moving the ball around and getting good shots. Peace be among us . Brother Cecil.

I mean no disrespect by this but that shooting by Perry Central was borderline unbelievable. My only argument with the Clay County defense was that they were not hurting you in any other way at that point than standing in a spot and shooting. I don't care if you're wide open, eventually you have to miss and they didn't. Tobler is a baby Julius Randle, identical games. I have a feeling this will cause the Tigers to not focus on South Laurel when your region is the focus now. Blake Smith is a warrior. Tweaked ankle and a poke in the eye and the kid just kept balling. I keep seeing people say we need to go inside but neither of our bigs can score routinely.

Blake Smith is my favorite player in Ky and I love my Commodores but he reminds me so much of my favorite player of all time , Russ Chadwell. I'm sure you know your team a lot better than me and I really just meant that I think it might make it a lot easier on the shooters if they can move the ball around and kick it back out. Farmer can hit a 3 from center court also. His range is unreal. Remember I told you this. Clay co will not lose the 13th region this year. That's a promise!

Wow, pretty positive vibes sent our way, appreciate that, we're going to need it. These older guys will be able to comment on Chadwell and Co. a bit more. I wasn't quite around yet but definitely understand and respect my history. I just admire the way Blake Smith goes about things on and off the court. He will do fine in life even when basketball isn't there anymore, which it will be for a while. I would love for us to have a true big man, I feel as though that would be our missing ingredient but it just isn't there right now and I love Gabbard and Gray as kids.

First and foremost, congratulations to Perry Central and Coach Shannon Hoskins. Great game! Best shooting team I have seen in a while and Tobler is a monster inside. If somebody beats them in the 14th I will be shocked. As for the Tigers, they seem to have some of the problems we have seen before. A nonexistent inside game and a lack of consistent defense hurt them last year and is again. They are also going to have to get a little more offense from players other than Smith and Farmer, but inside play would answer that. I am more concerned with the defensive problems. Hopefully they will work it out, still a lot of ball to play before the post season.

UKCC, it's not about the bigs being able to score routinely. It's about touches in the paint. Giving them 3-5 chances per game would do wonders. Has anyone ever thought about how much more effort a "big" might try to rebound or defend if he got those 3-5 touches a game. I see at least 3-5 forced shots per game from at least one other Clay player so how about those shots go to an inside guy. Also, how can they get better at "routinely" scoring without touches in the game?

The way and consistency that PCC shot the ball last night was unbelievable! Congratulations to them on their win. I'm seriously thinking that Tobler was put together in a lab somewhere. I sure hope he plays the next level!

Blake Smith is just phenomenal to me. He actually had 2 pokes to the eye, and he was murdered on one of his shots, but was able to pull himself off the floor and get a rebound on the opposite side of the court in the same play. You can't teach stuff like that! That all comes from the type of kid that he is, and he continues to impress me every time he takes the floor.

So, here's to hoping PCC shot themselves out last night!!

Smith is better shooter than Chadwell but does not have the same bounce as him. Richie created. Chadwell finished.
#17
Chad got most of his points along the baseline, Blake gets his foul line and in. Hard to fairly compare because the teams as a whole are so different. Chad's team was so much better.

Tobler next year will be playing 2 sports football and basketball....Perry needs to play defense better Clay got to the lane to easy and Smith is a very good player along with Farmer. If Perry shoots like that in any game any team in the state would have trouble beating them, both Perry and Clay are going to have to play better defense because one night somewhere the 3 are not going to fall.....Tolber needs more touches it either foul or score....Good luck to both teams down the road.

Good point, hoghead.

Last night did leave a lot to be desired defensively from both teams.

It seemed like Clay couldn't cover Perry's shooters and Perry allowed Smith to get to the rim at will.

This is probably not a logical response at this time but I would almost take a jacked 3 by Farmer than a post move by one of our bigs. There's a reason the only time they try to score is on a putback. In addition, there's a reason they don't play many minutes in any game that isn't sluggish. It's very difficult for them to keep up. Both played just a minute or so last night for that reason. Gray was getting beat up inside and Gabbard almost had his ankles broke on a jumper from I believe Blair near the Perry tunnel.

I know what you're saying though, it spaces the floor. However, if I was an opposing coach, until they score routinely, I wouldn't take it serious.

I think Clay needs to make an effort to get these other guys involved.

Farmer and Smith are a great 1-2 punch, but what happens if one of them has an off night? What if both of them do?

It really told a story that Smith started the 4th quarter with 4 fouls.

Farmer is 6'4 but rebounds like a 5'5 girl. He is soft as a creampuff when it comes to hitting the boards. Watched him play against south a while ago. Lucky to have two rebounds. No excuse. May get some more bounce if he shaved as well. Smith is a warrior.
