We struggle just to keep our program going for the handful of kids we are fortunate enough to have. Again, I stated, "I WISH our little school had the options that some of the bigger schools have and the role could be reversed for about 10 years. I think I heard Pineville had 80 male students. Is that right?
They have a good group of seniors coming back, but how much longer can they keep going in football with an enrollment that low?

I'm not positive if that is right or not but I am sure those are very close numbers. It kills my soul to say this but I don't see that it can continue much longer, especially after we lose next year's seniors because that will be a good sized class.

It is especially tough for the small independent school districts to keep going in this environment. Most people are encouraging their children to leave here for better opportunities. There are very few living wage jobs left in eastern ky. There is not much youth staying here in eastern ky and in western va as far as that goes. There has been quite a bit of school consolidation over there in the last few years.
