HS stadiums you have been to

RoShamBo Wrote:The Valdosta area has always turned out great high school football teams and great high school football players, and I do mean always. Valdosta #1 in the nation in all time wins, Lowndes with several state titles of their own over the last half century.

EKU, since you're living over in Suwanee you probably know, but have all of the Gwinnett and Forsyth County teams gone to turf now as well? I was surprised to hear that so many teams in Cobb and Paulding County had gone to turf. Georgia is pretty much ideal for bermuda but I guess the multi-sport usage may have won out at least in the Marietta-area.

Surprisingly no.

The vast majority of the Gwinnett teams are still rocking the grass as far as I know.

Another FSU hot spot. Anquan Boldin probably the biggest name. Also is an incredibly tough area. Have had several nice players that either couldn't make it to campus or couldn't stay. Sad to see, but makes the success stories that much better. UPIKE actually ended up with a Pahokee star last season, or the one before. Just put in an order for the book, thanks!

You should definitely read that book.

It specifically talks about Rashad Greene and the team it follows is during Kelvin Benjamin's Senior Season. Jessie Lee Hester is the Head Coach during the time,,, a former FSU great.

It truly is a great read.

The Valdosta book is during Malcolm Mitchell and Jay Rome's season?

I'm going to check those out. I remember ESPN doing a story on the Muck City area of Florida and how they produce the fastest football players in the country because a lot of the players go out in the Everglades and hunt rabbits by chasing them and catching them with their bare hands. Pretty entertaining, I'll see if I can find a link for you guys.

Update: Found it!

Yep... They reference that in the book as well as a rite of passage. That area of Florida is among the highest in per capita for AIDS, murder, and many other crimes in the country. Just a really impoverished little area on the outskirts of the lake.

I snuck in and had a look at the new Ridgeview field facility. I've seen college facilities nowhere near as good. 2 grass fields plus the main turf stadium. I know its in southwest Virginia but it is by far and away the nicest in our region.
