Blast 23 is a movie about Travis Freeman, a former Corbin football player who goes blind . cant wait to see it. anyone know what theaters the movie will be playing in. http://23blast.com/

Haven't heard of any yet you can bet it will be shown at the tri county Cineplex in Corbin though.

For a film that was made on a lower budget, this is a really good film with some surprisingly big actors. They did a really good job filming this and it will be a hit for those who love feel good football stories as it's really inspirational.
However, 23 Blast isn't a true story, rather "based on a true story" and the Hoovers are quick to point that out. Travis lost his eyesight in 7th grade to Meningitis but I think this film portrays it as something that happened later in his high school career. Travis is a great young man and was truly moved and honored to be the center piece to this story. While the glory and recognition is great, I can guarantee that spreading his faith and inspriation matters to him so much more than a football story. I can't wait to see this again in October.

Having talked to someone who actually played on the team portrayed in the movie there are apparently several significant inaccuracies in the movie. As you said though this will be a great platform for a lot of people to be inspired and empowered.

I watched the movie the other night and thought it was great. However, as I stated, it was loosely based on Travis's football career. That is to be expected for Hollywood purposes and the main objective of the movie was overcoming adversity.
I do like how it portrayed Jerry Baker. Jerry had his demons but just as the movie showed, he was a very good kid with loads of talent. He could have been one of the all time Corbin greats had his life went another direction.
Some of the inaccuracies.
-Travis went blind in Middle School, not high school
-Corbin was always pretty good and made the playoffs.
-Willard Farris wasn't the coach. Willard is a good man who loved the kids despite his tough demeanor but Mike Whitaker was the head coach that played Travis.
-Derrick Neal and Josh Moran were very instrumental in helping Travis in his every day school activities.
-Floyd Whitaker was the Corbin QB during Travis' senior year.
Despite these, I still think the movie was great and tells a wonderful and inspirational story. I commend the Hoovers for doing a great job in writing the story.

Leave it to Hollywood to put their own spin on it! I like a feel good type football story as well as the next guy, but also like for a movie based on a true story to stick to the REAL story line as much as they can. Want to see it & then talk to my Pal that was around during this time in detail to get the REAL skinny on the story!
