Final from earlier tonight.
Valley played this one on a skeleton crew. Normally dressing 20 players, they had three out injured, and three more out sick. Of those 6 players who were out, 4 were starters either on offense or defense, and another is usually the first one off the bench. Not saying that Johns Creek didn't have some players out too, because honestly I don't know. But either way, Valley found a way to grind out a win.
This started out with the Wildcats methodically marching down the field and scoring to go up 8-0. Shortly after, Valley picked off a pass and ran it back for another score to go up by 2 TD's. Their defense then forced a 3-and-out, and scored again to make it 24-0 early in the second quarter.
Johns Creek broke a long TD run after that to cut the lead to 24-8. The Wildcats would answer back with another touchdown to extend the lead again. Then, after forcing a Bearcat fumble, Valley would tack on another score and take a 38-8 lead into halftime.
JC opened the second half with the ball, but another Valley interception put an end to this drive. The Wildcats would hit pay dirt soon afterward, pushing the lead to its biggest point, 44-8. Johns Creek would score soon after on an impressive long TD run to set the final score. The remainder of the game would be played with Valley having backups in at QB and both RB's, letting some kids run the ball for the first time all season.
Valley is now 11-1, and will play Paintsville next week in what should be a tough game. Hopefully they will have most of the sick and injured back by then.
