I'm sure everyone already knows that John hardin's Matt Elam has been selected for the army all American game but most probably don't know that 8th grader Anthony Witherspoon from bluegrass middle school ( John hardin's feeder program) has been selected to the 8th grade all American game. He's the only 8th grader in Kentucky selected this year and only the 2nd ever from Kentucky selected.. Just thought that was something cool to share to all of you posters that don't get on the middle school football forum

Congrats. This kid might be the best one to ever come through Hardin County/Elizabethtown/Ft.Knox area ever, and THAT says a whole long.
Many Division 1 and NFL football players have come through this area over the years. (Going back to the early 80's).

It is a great accomplishment, but he's not just the 2nd to make it. There have been several to garner this achievement the last couple of years.

He joins Cole Bentley from Belfry and Floyd Fannin, who played at Southwestern's feeder school but moved to Indiana from last year. Congrats to "Spoon"

Michael Smith from Leslie Co. started defensive tackle in the 8th Grade unlimited game in San Antonio in 2011..

Bowling Green Seniors Linclon Quick and Dakota Jopes were both invited when they were 8th graders.

Bell County's starting Right Tackle, Nathan Murray, was on the 8th grade unlimited team in 2012 and also started as Right Tackle in this game. Congrats to Witherspoon...this is a very big accomplishment.

Congrats to Anthony. This kid will see playing time on John Hardin's varsity team next year. That's how good he is. If he stays hungry and hits the weight room, he could be one of the best ever to come from this area.

Pulaski County's Sophomore LB/TE Mason Helton and Freshman OL/DL Daniel Mink were also selected in middle school.

I don't think anyone was selected from Bell Middle last year to compete on the Eastbay All American team. Here's the only ones from Bell County that I know have been selected to play: Nathan Murray (2012), Corey Oslonian and William Elliott (2009, I think). There could have been more, but that's the only ones that I know of.

Does he have any family living near Bowling Green? Maybe a second cousin or something.

I have seen the Beason kid play this year. I didn't know he was ranked 61st in the nation. Beason vs Witherspoon in the 2018 semi-state championship. We may have the best rivalry in the country for teams that have never been scheduled to play each other.

I would like to see that too but if the rumors are true we're heading to 4A after next season

Just my opinion but beason isnt even the best player on BG's team.

I didn't think so either. I was surprised to see him ranked so high. I guess that's a good thing, though. Lots of talent coming up.
