This score makes Wednesday games look even better.

Harlan played without one of its better players in Bianchi. They will be pretty good as the season plays out.

Whitley was without one of it's starters too,,,,,, Dingiss has a bad ankle sprain and could miss several games according to the coach. I was very impressed with the freshman guard for Harlan....she is already a good one and is only going to get better. I can see Harlan getting a few upsets this year if they stay healthy. My hats off to the Lady Dragons, they didn't quit even though they were down double-digits most of the game. It appears the 13th will be using the new college rules this year after the way the game was called last night. Whitley couldn't breath on Harlan without a foul being called.....it really slowed the game down. If all games are called like this one.....then there is going to be alot of angry fans and coaches. Forget blocking a shot too....no matter how clean it was....it was a foul! The refs have taken over the game.....I don't like it!:disappoint:

I agree that the new rules take the fun out of the game. It's almost painful to watch sometimes. I think Harlan gained a little respect last night competing so closely with such a great team as Whitley. Harlan is an improved team and will get better over time...I think I read where that freshman guard had 25 points. The 13th is going to be fun to watch this year with HC beating Clay and the Whitley/Harlan game being so close, and other surprises.

Who played well for Whitley? And how is coach working out?

Estes, Jones and Sizemore played good too! Coach Jones is letting his play makers play....big change from previous years! He has turned his horses loose! Good Job Coach Jones!
Below is the scoring per the Corbin Times Tribune.
Whitley County (70) – Craig 19, Smith 18, Johnson, 12 Estes, 9 Jones 9, Mahan, 3

Craig seems to be doing better under the new system.
It seems Jones wants to get the ball inside more and its paying off.
On nights where thats succeeding, and Johnson and Smith cant miss, its going to be hard for anyone to beat them.

To do my best Gut imitation, I told you guys Harlan was pretty good.
Some of you Whitley guys may have a little double standard going on. I like coach Jones and his staff, but if Whitley had just beat at Harlan at home by three you would be blasting Anderson if he was still there.

Not saying your wrong on that one.
Notice i didnt post much on the pregame thread, other than mentioning that I didnt think Whitley would have much trouble with Harlan.
I think we will get a big dose of how the season could play out tomorrow when Bell and Whitley meet up.
You were right about Harlan. I didnt go to the game, but have heard several say they were very impressed with the guard play.
Ill reserve my comments on the current staff until after i watch them play. Im a little curious if the new style of defense and up tempo offense will have an effect on Bell. After all, it was the first game of the year.

Yeah, it's probably four of the top seven playing at Corbin on Wednesday — Whitley vs Bell and Harlan vs Corbin. I saw two of the others on Monday with Harlan County winning at Clay. That just leaves Barbourville.

I really wish they would have given Whitley a game with Southwestern on Friday instead of South Laurel.
We'll see South 2 or 3 times this year atleast. Would have liked the competetion southwestern will bring in.
The CFIT has took a hit on getting out of state teams to come in like it use to.

Whitley may still get Southwestern depending on how the pools play out. I am really curious to see how the games are called. I bet Harlan shot 50 free throws against Whitley. It was crazy! Who will be the refs darling this time....Corbin or Harlan? WE KNOW IT WON'T BE WHITLEY!!!!!:biglmao:

The new emphasis on hand checks and arm bars will hurt whitley and maybe corbin the most. Whitley has been by far the most old school defensive minded team the last few years. I think this will hurt them against Bell and without Dingess I'm actually going with Bell in this one. I do think as Whitley will be better in the end.
