As a fan of the Longhorns I would love to see this move. Strong's recruiting in the talent rich State of Texas would be outstanding! Big fan of Charlie Strong!

I think Texas fans will be dissapointed with anything less than Saban.
So, Texas is going to be dissapointed.

I disagree that Texas would be disappointed with anything less than Saban. I think they would love to have Saban because he is the best coach in the college game now. But Saban is not going to leave Alabama, until he retires.
Beside, somebody better talk to Terri, not Nick. That's who Mal Moore talked to, to get Nick to Bama.
I would like to see Nick go home. Lord knows West Virginia needs him!
On the other hand, Strong would be a great pick up for Texas but then again so would Petrino.

Strong may be one of the best coaches in the game that isnt what i consider big time.
Texas could really use him to build that program.

Bridgewater leaves this spring and Strong won't be far behind. Muschamp isn't long for Florida. Strong would love to go back there but Texas would be hard to turn down. Money would be huge.

I hope charlie does go to Texas, or anywhere other than the ville!

You think Tom Jurich won't find us another great coach? I think Strong (who is making very good money) would not be real interested in that pressure cooker of a job. His family likes the Ville real well too. And he does have a five million dollar buyout clause. He doesn't come cheap.

Florida would be more interesting for strong than any place else. Get back in the sec and prove what he's done at the ville wasn't just playing in a weak conference. Have to wait to see if Texas will throw a boat load of money at him. Cause everyone knows money talks bullsh$$t walks.
But in betting he don't go to Texas IMO he holds out to see if Florida comes open. Maybe muschamp goes back to Texas instead. But who knows only time will tell.

Saban has already put these Texas rumors to quite saying that he's too old to rebuild elsewhere....

Texas needs a change. Strong would do well there or in the Swamp.

Texas and USC believes they can get whoever they want, so they won't settle for a rising star in the coaching ranks, even though they should.

Texas' AD is resigning today as well. Watch them go after Jurich and then the dominos will fall into place.
I personally hope Strong doesn't leave Louisville. I'm one of these 'odd' people in the state that has and proudly wears UK, WKU and UL stuff. Football in our state is the best it's ever been at the collegiate level, which trickles down to the HS level (even though that seems to be down this year); so, I want to see it continue to grow.
Wouldn't blame ole' Charles one bit for going after Texas if it comes open or USC.....

I don't see Strong leaving. The move to the ACC and a level of stability, fan support, Jurich showing him the money....he is in a good spot. He turned downed Tennessee and that job is a huge one. I'm sure UK fans would love to see him go. U of L is expanding the weight room, training room and the stadium. Charlie Strong has it pretty good without the pressure and stress that come with those "big time" jobs. The perception that Louisville is going down after Bridgewater is..well..just stupid. Gardner was a steal...the kid can play quarterback. The ACC will also provide a much better schedule.

Nobody really cares about Loserville or who their coach is.

I do let them hire Kiffen that way we could've beat them lol.

If Baylor has another strong season, then maybe Art Briles will take over Texas
10-02-2013, 11:43 PM
This seems to be one of the problems at Loserville. It has been labeled a springboard job. Not neccisarily fair but it is the reality.

When you have less than 60,000 seats you will always be a springboard.

He also swore straight up and down that he wasn't going to Alabama while he was at the Dolphins.

U of L did what UK hasn't done in twenty seven years. Like UK is a destination job in football. I can name four basketball coaches UK has had in the last thirty years. U of L does fill their stadium up. Texas coming after the AD and the football coach at U of L...pretty big compliment.
10-04-2013, 09:48 PM
It's really not a compliment. It's like saying aren't you tired of being second class citizens.

You are just hoping he want leave, the only reason he turned Tenn down was they would not let him bring the assistant coach involved in the Miami scandal with him. Strong is gone and all you got is Jurich and I will agree he is probably the best A D in the business and there is a pretty good chance he will make a good hire.

When Mal Moore was AD at Bama, he went through Terri, Nick's wife to get him to Bama. Texas is looking to hire WVU's AD Oliver Luck.

Hopefully Longhorn's victory at Oklahoma keeps Brown there another year so they can continue to strive to underachieve.
