Corbin 36 Perry Central 8
#1
Could've been a whole lot worse. Score was 29-0 at the half and Corbin imposed their will from start to finish. The JV all of the second half other than maybe a series or two. Perry Central scored with about 1:49 left.

Taylor Waddle and Jake Coppock looked to be the work horses for the Redhounds tonight. Switching Waddle from Quarterback to a utility player may be one of Coach Jewell's best coaching decisions. The kid has potential to be a star this year.

The Hounds started out playing old school Corbin football and would line up and run it down your throat. Once the lead was in hand, the staff took to practicing their passing attack.

Two weeks in a row, Corbin starters have pitched shut outs. Next week against Trimble County could easily be 3 in a row.

Mismatch. Corbin looked bigger, stronger and faster. PCC looked flat from the opening kickoff.

Could it be another long year for the Commodore faithful?

There's only two of us now...

It can't be that bad.

Looks like they might want to rethink that Moutain Top Ten!! Corbin made a statement tonight. Southwestern also helped Corbin's case they have KC all they wanted. Corbin's back Jack!!
#5
I agree. I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch because the competition may not be the strongest although Southwestern showed they are pretty solid against Knox. However, you can tell by watching a team despite the opponent that they are good. I'm not crowning Corbin a favorite in 3A but I think they can make a case they can contend better than people thought.

Corbin looked like a 6A team out there tonight. I counted 79 red jerseys. Maybe some were managers but dang what a 3A roster.

Corbin looked really good tonight! Was impressed with how they came out and ran it right down pcc throat.
#7
Not saying they are state champs but they are in the hunt for the district title!! Then we can go from there. I'm just glad we have dog in the race!! Feels good to be a winner!!

Good win for the Hounds!

sounds like Corbin has a tough defense this year

Corbin dominated up front. The holes were so big Marlin Sams could have run through them.

Now that's funny.

He may have been able to walk through them, not sure about the running part though.

Corbin does not have their linemen playing both sides of the ball and actually only started 2 or 3 players total both ways. This should pay dividends down the road. The line play has been an unexpected strength so far, but they need to continue getting better because the competition is going to improve.

They had a running clock with over 7 1/2 minutes left in the 3rd quarter and Perry didn't have 100 yards of offense before they broke the 71 yard TD run on the freshman defense on their last possession of the game.

The Bell, Wayne and Corbin district is getting very interesting. Could Bell have to travel the first week of the playoffs? Not saying they will but we all knew Wayne was good but Corbin is making a case for themselves now. I will be keeping a close eye on this district.
#15
Congrats Corbin.
Sounds like things are finally turning for the better.
#16
I'm looking forward to the Corbin Wayne game. It should be a big time show down.
#17
Well, I guess there's the answer I was looking for. It wasn't so much Southwestern being bad last week as it was Corbin being good!

I think Corbin may have gotten bell's coach a little worried. I seen him at both of the games last night. Guess he was getting a little 2 for 1 scouting action.

I watched the Corbin vs Middlesboro scrimmage. I am a boro fan but Corbin has a good team, they have very good size, and seem coached well. I also watched Bell vs South Pitt , and Bell is not as bad as everyone lets on. South pitt had 2 very good backs and was a hard hitting team. Corbin I do think has the team to upset Bell and challenge Wayne for the disrict.

Perry did not look good last night I know there QB is out for a few games, But still there is a lot of work that they have to do or its going to be a long season for Perry Central, I said last week Clay may only win 1 or 2 games this year and I say 3 to 4 for Perry Central.
