I will just put this one very interesting fact out there for everyone that is thinking of picking Fairview over Hazard. I know Hazard has three losses but this is very interesting. Hazards combined opponents records are the best in 1a. Their combined opponents records at 87-57. On the other side Fairviews combined opponents records are very very weak. They have the worst of 1a teams still alive. Their combined opponents records are 51-93. I dont think I have ever seen a team make it this far with that lack of strength of schedule. They have only played 5 games against teams with winning records. These games were pretty close as well, they beat a 7-5 Fleming Co by one td. They beat Raceland, who got beat by Pikeville, by 2 td's. I'm just giving food for thought here. I also noticed in what I saw of them on film they look average to me.

HFA means home field advantage! Cooper is at HC! This will be a great game with the bears winning a close one. Nothing else matters, but I am pulling for all SEky teams! Hazard, Somerset, Belfry, Harlan co. Good luck to all the kids!!! Can't wait until BLACK FRIDAY! BLACK BEARS, BLACK FRIDAY!

Mayfield at Beechwood: Mayfield
- If Mayfield gets out to a slow start, they'll be in big trouble

Hazard at Fairview: Hazard
- the tough schedule pays off as Hazard's defense shuts down Fairview in a good one

Caldwell County at DeSales: DeSales
- this was toss up, I'll give DeSales home field advantage

Newport Central Catholic at Somerset: NewCath
- Somerset stops the run, but struggles moving the ball

Monroe County at Central: Central
- Central's defense steps up big time in this one

Bourbon County at Belfry: Belfry
- another close one, home field goes to Belfry

Warren East at Collins: Warren East
- Warren East has a pretty good defense

Lexington Catholic at Highlands: Highlands
- this one won't be pretty for the Birds, but they'll get it done at home

Bowling Green at John Hardin: Bowling Green
- I'll be shocked if the Purples don't win state

Cooper at Harlan County: Cooper
- Cooper has a great, extremely underrated defense

Eastern at Pleasure Ridge Park: PRP
- PRP has only scored less than 21 points in 1 game this season

Scott County at Trinity: Trinity
- no James Quick, but Scott County will struggle scoring

11 of 12 = 0.917 not bad for an old guy who lives in Ohio and made the picks from Maryland.

Looks like some good matchups in BG next week. New blood too, first time in the finals for Fairview, Collins and Cooper. PRP has not been there in quite some time.

Congratulations and good luck to all the teams and their fans going to BG.
