^ Might have been better off to petition the state to not have to play in the playoffs then

Bout what I expected. Havent seen the stats yet, but wouldnt be shocked to find out they now have 3 1,000 yd rushers. No way I keep starters in to pad stats, but like i said, i havent seen the stats yet so this may not even be the case.

WESTWOOD — One down, four to go.
Fairview scored on every possession but its last to defeat Phelps 69-0 in the opening round of the KHSAA Class A playoffs on Thursday night at Fairview Stadium.
While some thought Fairview might overlook winless Phelps, Eagles coach Nathan McPeek credited the weather. Working inside most of the week helped keep his team focused.
“It was difficult,” McPeek said. “We didn’t get to go outside that much this week with the weather, we did a lot of work in the gym, a lot of prep work. If there was a week to do that, this was the week. The kids did a good job and they were dialed in.”
From the opening kickoff, it seemed like Devon Turner was dialed into the game.
Turner took the opening kick back 76 yards for a touchdown, but for a few seconds it seemed like the senior running back was down.
But a referee’s whistle never blew, so he got back up and ran the rest of the way for the touchdown.
“Honestly, I don’t know 100 percent, but according to the refs I wasn’t,” Turner said of the call. “I was shocked, because I was looking for the whistle to blow. I thought they were going to blow it. I didn’t see any mud on my pants so I kept going.
“I was just shocked, so I kept on running.”
On the following Phelps possession, the Hornets went three-and-out and were forced to punt.
Fairview freshman Tanner Dolen came through the line and didn’t block the punt, but tackled the punter for a loss of 11, and set up Fairview’s next possession.
An Elijah King 21-yard touchdown run ensued. This was followed by Turner tip-toeing his way to the end zone on a 55-yard run.
Senior receiver Mason Rutherford added a 40-yard touchdown reception along with another King touchdown run, and by the end of the first quarter Fairview had a 44-0 lead.
After the first quarter many of the Eagles’ senior players didn’t see the field again, even though it was Senior Night.
“They’re just a great group,” McPeek said of his seniors. “They’re 42-7 as a class, and they’ve been a part of almost all my wins. They’ve been a part of a lot of winning here and that’s just a credit to a lot they do, how they prepare, how they lift weights during the offseason.
“They also know we’ve got higher goals. We’ve been in the regional finals two years in a row, and we have to win next week to get a third berth in that.”
Looking toward a winless opponent like Phelps can be a little difficult for most teams concentration-wise, but for Turner it’s just another game his team had to win.
“It’s a faceless opponent and we can only control what we can control,” Turner said. “We can’t worry about the other team, only what we can do and how we can get better as a team. That’s what coach tells us — stay focused and keep getting better.”
Turner had just the one run for 55 yards and a touchdown, and King had three carries for 81 yards and two touchdowns. Fellow senior Chris Brewer, the area’s leading rusher, had no official carries in the game.
But the game belonged to the younger players, especially with a big game from Dolen.
Dolen carried the ball twice for 61 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown run. He also returned two fumbles for touchdowns.
In the second half sophomore Cody Stone added a 30-yard touchdown run and freshman Kyle Sesher added a 63-yard run for a TD.
Sesher ended up being the game’s leading rusher, with three carries for 86 yards.
But for McPeek, he expects this game to be the last in which the seniors are done playing by halftime.
“That’s the last gimme game, you can say, for us,” McPeek said. “You have to hand it to Phelps and coach (Jesse) Peck because they fought hard. They were a four-seed and haven’t won a game so that’s tough. Our kids did a good job and we have to keep getting better and do a good job.”
Fairview will take on the winner of tonight’s South Floyd/Nicholas County game at home.

Turner - 1 run for 55 yards TD
King - three carries for 81 yards and two touchdowns
Soph: Cody Stone - 30-yard run for TD
Frosh: Kyle Sesher - 63-yard run for a TD
Dolen - 2 carrie 61 yards, including a 56-yard touchdown run. He also returned two fumbles for touchdowns
Chris Brewer, the area’s leading rusher, had no official carries in the game.
So what moron would dare say that Fairview RAN UP the score? For crying out loud, Fairview played everyone on their team EXCEPT their best player! So what do you want them to do, have a 50 yard run with no one stopping them and the fall down outside the goal line????????????

Going into the game, I believe King needed well over 300 yards to eclipse the 1,000 mark.

Congrats to the eagles.
Turner is the man!!
He plays very physical. And gives it all every play.

Thanks for the info stardust. I never said nething about running up the score. This game sounds about like the Raceland vs Paintsville game. It didnt take a whole lot of offense when your defense and special teams is scoring points. Raceland stats as of late havent been that impressive because of special teams getting scores and settig up great field position and the defense scoring more than usual. I am actually glad that mason and elijah were ruled eligible. I want the best team Fairview can field for the rematch against Raceland. That is if Raceland beats Allen Central and then goes to Pikeville and wins. And Fairview gets past Nicholas or South Floyd

Let them get their hopes up, all the weak wins in the world still won't equal a championship, neither will a worthless judge. Sounds like the KHSAA actually tried to do the right thing for once. Oh well, next year will bring the same thing, this is the new normal in the hood, uh, wood.

Poor Phelps, could have at least let them score once. Congrats to Fairview on the win!

Exactly, so glad that you're finally seeing it so clearly I was beginning to wonder if you ever would! Now you are not so delirious as to really think they are going to win a championship this year are you? That is what I'm wanting to hear you say, that Fairview will win the state championship this year. Please say that so I will have something to laugh about.

First of all, the post that I quoted was from you and never mentioned anything about a State Championship, just a championship. We accomplished just that...a Regional Championship.
Seriously, you really need to move on...your bitterness oozes out of every post you put on here. Bitterness can cause one's health to deteriorate at an alarming rate. It can cause all kinds of problems. I'm just trying to be helpful and put you on the road to wholeness and wellness. Maybe one day you will get over all of your shortcomings, failures, jealousies, bitterness and hatred for the Fairview Eagles. Good luck to you Mr. Patch and Godspeed on your road to recovery.

I don't have anything to recover from but thank you for your concern. I did not think that you would go on here and say that they would win a state championship where's all the faith? Don't you BITW? You need to take care of your health, I hear you have plenty things of your own to worry about.

My health is just fine but our mutual friend has told many times how you and Mr. Karma meet quite often. No use responding. Im moving on and maybe you should learn to let go and move on as well. Hope the river of bitterness soon dries up in your life and maybe you can enjoy life for a change.
11-18-2012, 11:17 PM
I do not believe that we have any mutual friends and I have no idea what you're talking about with karma. I love my life and my friends and my family. I would like to know who you think I am, I think that would be very amusing because obviously you have no clue who this is.

You been around since Dec 2011 and you only have about 135 post's. I would bet that the majority of your post's are negative things about either Fairview or the KHSAA. From an outsider looking in you do sound a little bitter about Fairview. Now I don't know the facts but if the ADULTS around this team are doing illegal things then shame on them but you do realize that the kids from this team and school are probably on BGR also and read what you say. You also do realize I hope that even if they are doing the things you say they are that you are not part of KHSAA and can do nothing about it. In the end I dont' think you should be trashing a team and the kids when you have not one single bit of proof to back up your claims.
JUST SAYIN!!!

I would not say my name on here, this guy comes on here though and tells me we have a mutual friend. I hardly believe that but my concern would be that this guy finds out who I really am and try to come to my house, and that would not turn out very well for him.

Well, I know they have done things that are illegal. I have heard it from some of the parents myself. And I have not broken any rules with anything that I said and I am far from the only 1 that says negative things about Fairview.
Just sayin'.

One of the most phlegmatic statements ever on Bluegrass Rivals. I, along with some of my co-workers of been watching this verbiage between Patch and Clint for the last several months. Never a dull moment.
