With most first round and even alot of second round games being blowouts, what game might be good? I think the Ashland/Holmes game could be if Ashland does not stop Holmes big plays they have had this year.

The best game may be Mercer Co @ Knox Central. Mercer has show to be very capable this season, and moving in the right direction. Knox Central has a date looming with LexCath, and here in Russell Co we know how that can workout sometimes...............lol.

I agree this may be a heck of a game.

I think Boyd county may give highlands all they want.

Wideleft, I think you could be correct particularly if Holmes scores a bunch more points than Ashland. I suppose we may need some clarification on the going definition of "blow out" though. What are you thinking in terms of score? 73-4?
While I am somewhat loathe to ever disagree with you particularly in the face of your thoughtful and well-reasoned analysis above, I'm going to go a different direction with my prediction. Feeling a little saucy this fine evening. I say Ashland 38 Holmes 16. Good post though. Wait a minute. Are you trolling? You are aren't you. Dang, I got sucked in. Nice job.

It was sarcasm in response to wideleft predicting Ashland being blown out.

I believe this is the best first round game.

Probably true. FTH will be able to name the score and, as they prepare for second game, that will be what the Bluebirds want.

I think Holmes will win 35-12. Holmes speed will be too much for Ashland.

Holmes does have a lot of speed. A couple of all state track kids if I'm not mistaken? Actually is my biggest concern.

How good is Ashland Passing game this year? I can only see this game being close if Holmes can break off some big plays. Holmes runs the ball well but will they be able to pass it? How good is Ashlands special team? Another way Holmes can break one if Ashland doesn't contain them. Highlands/Covcath both gave up scores to Holmes.
Ashland 35-20
Ashland 35-20

Good speed on returnmen. Do pass some, not a great QB but WR's went up and made some good plays against Highlands DB's. They will score on Ashland but do not know if it will be enough to pull off a win.

Ashland has a good deep passing game but struggles in the short to intermediate aspect. The tomcats will try to make this a physical game up front I believe and wear down Holmes. If it turns into a track meet the tomcats could be in trouble.
Ashland 35-20
