I was wondering why they only played 4 games. What was the reason for the cancellation of so many games?

That's about how JV is around here. I think Montgomery was canceled because they were playing another game. Not sure why the other's were canceled.

Estill needs a lot of help. With a 2-18 record the past couple of seasons are the coaches on the hot seat? I would think they would be looking for at least a new defensive scheme or coordinator. The last 20 games they have given up an average of 46.5 points per game and this year was even worse with an average of 50.2. You aren't going to win many games giving up that many points.

To add to Norm's question, how committed is the community to the football team and how committed are the players? I could be completely wrong here but, I don't think I am. Estill Co seems like a basketball school which makes sense since most of the surrounding schools(Lee Co, Owsley Co, Wolfe Co) don't have football teams.

Russ Swimm the O'Coord quit before the beginning of the season. Not sure what happened. He was fine at graduation ready for the season then the next thing I know is he quits. To take Estill's side for a minute, They had more Fresh and Sophomores than Juniors and Seniors. I think they had 16 Fresh, 14 Sophomores, 8 JR's and 7 SR's but about 4 SR's only played this year. 3 of them were on the line. One had to sit out due to an ACL injury which he didn't play much varsity past years anyways. One of those linemen went to a clinic with the Louisville and Kentucky coaches. Some of them even just started playing football this year. and the injury bug just had killed Estill. Lose 2 key players to ACL injuries first game of the season it's hard to rebound after that. As for the coaches I would say that their all fine. Jones is only 55-65 or something like that since he arrived here. He may step down here in couple years when Trevor graduates but I could be wrong on that.

Each Friday night the stands and sidelines are packed. The players (not just football but baseball, basketball, soccer) they make a bad play and their heads go straight to the ground and their done the rest of the game. Football, Baseball and Soccer are very good for doing that. The Booster club just spent I don't know how much money on getting them new locker for the locker room and if I'm not mistaken they are getting new uni's this year too.

That is one thing I don't get, if your a Senior why play only one year of a sport? If your gonna play why not start when your little and play until your high school career is over and if your good enough continue your career at the collegiate level.

Ok, I know when I used to go to Estill football games back in 06-08 the stands were packed for every game but, it did seem like the majority of it was students which is a good thing but, it seems like they have dropped off recently. Other than the 06 season, it seemed like they were a good team when I was going to almost every game.

It would be nice to see them get the program turned around and become competitive again!

They should be pretty decent next year. Maybe 5-7 Wins. We're all hoping that the 2014 team we're gonna have will be as good as the 2008 team that went 11-2 and Regional Championship Runner-Up.

I hope you're right about the 2014 team, that would be nice to see!! As far as the 2013 season goes, I see atleast 3 guaranteed wins on the schedule which is a good start in the right direction IMO.

Morgan will be good again. They don't lose much I don't think. LCA will be tough. Jackson County should be an automatic W. McCreary Central should be a W. Estill should win couple district games. Probably Bath, Powell, Maybe just maybe win the district but that's a long shot. out of the 6 district teams, I think Estill is the only one that returns as more talent than the other's. Western Hills will probably be in a rebuilding year again..

Bath County - 17

Bourbon County - 10

Estill County - 5

Garrard County - 13

Powell County - 6

Western Hills - 10

If It's true the biggest lost that Powell County will have is Coach Burchett

IMO, Jackson Co, East Ridge, and McCreary Central will be guaranteed wins for you guys. I think you will definitely have a chance against Bath Co, Western Hills, and Powell Co.

The way I see it, Best Case scenario is 6-4 and Worst Case scenario is 3-7.

Well if Coach Burchett retires at Powell County that's gonna be a huge loss for them but he does have that program going in the right direction if your a Powell Fan.
