Former Morehead State associate head coach Wade O'Connor has officially accepted the same position on Donnie Tyndall's staff at Southern Mississippi.

Tyndall’s associate head coach at Morehead State, Wade O’Connor, will take over the same role at USM after he was passed over this week as a finalist for the top job at Morehead.

Former Mississippi Valley State head coach Sean Woods confirmed Friday to the Hattiesburg American that he has been hired to be the next man at Morehead State, which is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference.

O’Connor spent two years as Tyndall’s top assistant at Morehead State after previous stops at Tulane, Marshall, St. Catharine (Ky.) Junior College, and Western Carolina.

“I wanted Wade to get the job so I’m disappointed for him that it didn’t work out,”

Tyndall said Friday. “On the flip side, in Wade we get a very good basketball coach and a good recruiter. I’m excited he’ll be joining us at Southern Miss.”
