no doubt Hoosier fans are going to cry about UK if the series
really is done for a while. But IU ist the actual sticking point.
but if you think about it, you can't blame them. If as Cal
wants the game is played at a neutral site, it would be bad for
IU's recruiting. UK fans would at least equal IU's crowd
in Indianapolis, and that would NOT look good for IU if
they had recruits on hand.

Assembly hall is a greater home court advantage than Rupp Arena.

Does it have anything to do with all the dumbasses that act like they have never won anything? Or the fact that all the seats aren't bought up by old blue hairs who think that getting up out of their seat is only for going to piss or leave? I agree with you though.

I am glad this is happening. I know two people that went to the game in Bloomington. They were treated horribly. One of them who was in the army and is now working on his degree described the atmosphere there as "the most dangerous atmosphere he has been in that is not Iraq." The other guy I know, as well as his wife were treated horribly. They wore blue to the game and had stuff thrown at them in the stands. Security gave a very poor effort to stop what was going on with their fans when they complained about it.
Despite the fact that we won by twelve points in the sweet sixteen and eliminated their title hopes, the shot hit last year to win the game is going to be talked about more. UK fans will remember how the IU fans treated us, and there is no doubt that our fans would probably attempt to pay their fans back for what they did when they come to Rupp (understandably so). Their players, trampling over Miller, and fans were classless after defeating UK. If this were Kentucky's fans that acted like that, ESPN wouldn't have been publicizing our victory like they did IU - they would be putting down our fan base. I am glad that this series will not be a home and home because I think that after last year that regardless of the game outcomes, there is a good chance that somebody could get seriously hurt. Especially in Bloomington.

Yes. And everybody is right on top of the court in that old cracker box. Honestly it creates a great atmosphere.

I agree the atmosphere is great, but after what happened last year it's not an environment I want the boys in blue in. Their fans are classless freaking pricks IMO, i'm absolutely thrilled we ended their season and sent Watford and Dwight Schrute packing.

I Effing hate IU with passion, even when they sucked.
I hate there dumb coach with his big ass forehead.
I hate there bitter old hero Bob Dousche Bag night.
And i even hate there stupid ass hoosiers movie that wouldn't get 4 tickets sold in todays world.
Did i mention I Effing hate IU?

Well...
let's get this straight.
IU wants to play home/home like the series is already being played and UK wants to go neutral.
So in my eyes this thread being titled "Why IU won't play" is very misleading.
I would say that both parties are responsible for this not happening instead of IU.
If anything it falls on our back since we are the ones that want to change it.
And when we picked up some games on the SEC schedule the reason we were going to have to drop a series with IU or UNC was because they only played in Rupp half the time and the smaller schools in the non-conference schedule would come to play us every year.
So asking IU to go to a neutral site made absolutely no sense at all in the first place if the school needs the revenue from home games.
The bottom line is that we went up there last year into an intense environment and lost a heartbreaker.....
We don't want that to happen again.

Getting in and out of Bloomington and parking is much easier than for Rupp as well. A friend of mine had a couple of season tickets for some good seats and I attended a couple of games when I lived in Indy.

what was wrong with playing at assembly and at rupp? neither one is hurting for money

That's not fair to Crean. IU has to look out for their best interests.
If IU gets embarassed by not only losing, but also by having bigger
UK crowds in Indianapolis, it won't be good for their recruiting.

Brother, that ain't the name of the game. You may not like it
but this is a BUSINESS for the schools. They need to maximize revenue.
Even UK can't fill a big dome unless it's a marquee game, so
the IU's, UNC's etc provide the only option for one of
those big spectacles during the regular season..

That's the thing...
There are only 2 sports out of the umpteen at Kentucky that actually make money.
Men's Basketball and Football.
Those 2 sports have to fund the entire athletiic department.
When we picked up a couple more home-home games because of the SEC expanded the word came down that we needded to drop IU or UNC or drop a sport.

Uk Doesnt really even get much of the money from ticket sales in basketball.
