USA Basketball announced the 24 players who have accepted invitations to its U18 National Team training camp June 5-12 at Colorado Springs, Colo.
Marcus Smart is one of 24 players who were invited to USA Basketball U18 national team training camp.
Jarnell Stokes, who will be a sophomore with the University of the Tennessee is the lone collegian in the camp. The rest are graduating high school seniors and players who will be high school seniors next fall.
The graduating seniors: Gary Harris of Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers, Ind.); James Robinson of DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.); Rasheed Sulaimon of Strake Jesuit (Houston); Ryan Arcidiacono of Neshaminy(Langhorne, Pa.); Robert Carter of Thomasville, Ga.; Sam Dekker of Sheboygan (Wis.) Lutheran; Kris Dunn of New London, Conn.; Shaq Goodwin of Southwest Dekalb (Decatur, Ga.); Jerami Grant of DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.); Montrezl Harrell of Hargrave Military (Chatham, Va.); Joel James of Dwyer (West Palm Beach, Fla.); Jake Layman of King Phillip (Wrentham, Mass.); Devonta Pollard of Kemper County (DeKalb, Miss.); Rodney Purvis of Upper Room Christian (Raleigh, N.C.); Marcus Smart of Marcus (Flower Mound, Texas); Robert Upshaw of Edison (Fresno, Calif.); and Adam Woodbury of East (Sioux City, Iowa).
The team also includes six players who will be high school seniors this fall: Jabari Bird of Salesian (Richmond, Calif.); Nate Britt of Gonzaga (Washington, D.C.); Aaron Harrison and Andrew Harrison of Travis (Richmond, Texas); Julius Randle of Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas) and Troy Williams of Phoebus (Hampton, Va.).
Florida's Billy Donovan will be the team's head coach and Gonzaga's Mark Few and Shaka Smart of Virginia Commonwealth are the assistants.
"It will be important to learn to play together as a team in a short amount of time," Donovan said in a release. "We need to demonstrate great focus and teamwork and bring a high level of energy and effort every day in order to have success both in training camp and throughout the competition."
The 12-member USA Men's U18 National Team will be selected prior to the team's departure for the 2012 FIBA Americas U18 Championship, which will be played June 16-20 in Sao Sebastio do Paraiso, Brazil.
