Collins aims to use pitching and defense to compete for a regional title. Chris Cervantes, Brandon Roberts, Logan Bailey, Nate Clifton and Austin Perry are the key players back from an 18-7 team.
Oldham County lacks experienced pitching, but coach Scott Gerlach says the Rockets have good chemistry. Shortstop Kyle Smith, second baseman AJ Crush, outfielder Kadin Dietrich, catcher Tommy Shafer and pitcher Jack Roller are the top returnees.
Shelby County has nine players who started half of the games and pitched in 99 percent of the innings in a 16-14 season. Outfielder-pitcher Kody Noonan (.361, 22 RBIs), pitcher Tyler Eades (6-1, 2.50 ERA) and catcher-pitcher Kevin Veeley (.289, 22 RBIs) are the best players back.
