Covington Holmes 64, Covington Holy Cross 53
#1
Final from Holy Cross, they picked the game up at the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Not surprised by the outcome as Holmes gained a lot of momentum from their win over CovCath tuesday night. Holy Cross' 13 game winning streak ends.

Holy Cross was very sloppy on offense, really bad ball movement and poor shot selection. Holmes used that and established a fast-paced offensive attack early. Holmes took a 4 point lead into halftime and came out on fire. Holmes went up 50-39 at the end of the 3rd. Holy Cross stormed back to make it 56-50 halfway through the 4th, but used all the energy they had left trying to comeback. HC couldn't make anymore shots and Holmes extended their lead on layups and free throws to close the game.

Huge win for Holmes as they take control of the top seed in District 35. Holy Cross will have 4 games to rebound from this loss before they face CovCath for the number 2 seed. The 35th district hold 3 of the 4 best teams in the 9th region right now.

Holmes (11-3) pulled away in the second half (33-26) behind Dontel Rice’s team-high 19 points.

It was a good game even though the margin was double digits. Before the game, you could tell Holmes was ready to get things going. Holy Cross looked worn out. Let's see if Holmes can carry this momentum to districts.
