Eric Dick new football coach at Moore
#1
After nine years as an assistant coach in Jefferson County, Eric Dick says he’s “living my dream” after taking the step up to head coach.

Dick, 30, has been named the head football coach at Moore High School. He replaces Ravon Patterson, who stepped down after posting an 8-15 record in two seasons.

“I think there’s a great foundation here, and the kids I’ve talked to want to win,” Dick said. “There’s a hunger here, and as long as you have that the sky’s the limit. Hopefully we can become a mainstay in our district ant that will propel us in the playoffs.”

Dick is a 1999 graduate of St. Xavier, where he played football, and went on to the University of Louisville, where he was a graduate assistant for the football program.

His assistant coaching duties include four years at Fern Creek, two at Fairdale, two at Doss and last season as the offensive coordinator at Southern.

He said former Fairdale coach Jonathan Miller, current Doss coach LaKunta Farmer and former Fern Creek coach Bob Bronger have been big influences.

“Coach Bronger really took me under his wing and showed me the ins and outs of how to run things,” Dick said.

Dick said he’d like to bring in a spread offense and pressure defense but knows his personnel will dictate a lot of his schemes.

For now, he’s just happy to be a head coach.

“I wanted this job desperately two years ago when they hired Patterson,” Dick said. “I always checked up on them to see how they were doing. With our schedule and the guys we have returning, I think we can make some noise next season.”
