In a game that featured terrific long-range shooting by both teams, Lexington Catholic's Craig Floyd hit the three-pointer that mattered most.Floyd's three from just left of the top of the key beat the buzzer and Pulaski County 63-60 in the quarterfinals of the Republic Bank Holiday Classic Wednesday night."Right when I got (the ball), I saw there were three seconds left so I let it fly," Floyd said. "It looked straight on, and it went in."Floyd's shot negated a spirited rally by Pulaski County. The Maroons trailed 57-44 with five minutes left, but Taylor Gover hit three threes and Kody Johnson hit one to fuel a

furious rally.Pulaski County tied it at 60 when Tyler Goins muscled in a layup with six seconds left. But that was enough time for Lexington Catholic to salvage victory. Bryan Woomer brought the ball up the left sideline, threw to Jack Whitman in the left corner. Whitman then passed off to Floyd, who drilled the game-winner."The three-pointer is a great equalizer, and it worked for

both teams tonight," Knights Coach Brandon Salsman said. "Pulaski County has two of the best we've played against. You've got to guard them almost at 30 feet."The Maroons were 10-for-22 on threes. Gover was 4-for-7 and had 13 points. Johnson led Pulaski County with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Goins had 14 points and 10 rebounds.Lexington Catholic hit 10 of 25 threes, including six by Dillon Avare in the first half that sparked the Knights to a 37-25 lead.

Whitman, a 6-foot-9 junior, had 21 points and 10 rebounds. Avare finished with 18 points, and Floyd added 15 points and six rebounds.Pulaski County Coach Al Gover credited Floyd for "hitting a big shot at the end. That's just the way it goes sometimes."But we showed we can be in a game with anybody if we keep our heads up. Boy, we fought hard to come back tonight
