jetpilot Wrote:Hackney and Deramus...and Chad Thornsbury (sp?) the third back was great and would have been a star on any other team in Kentucky. Those 3 were the best backfield ever and Matt Blair at QB was a good leader as well. Then add Robbie Wright and Chris McNamee as receivers before you even get into what a great line and defense but I digress....Hackney and Deramus and Thornsbury best backfield in Kentucky ever.
Sorry, I know I'm getting on here last with this response, but that `87 Pikeville team could have possibly beaten any team in the state that year. You named Robbie Wright and Chris McNamee, but don't forget about Jody Brown, too. All three were clutch receivers, which seems funny to say about a team that traditionally hated to throw the ball!

Jody Brown did a great job on kickoff returns too. In the 88' season i've seen him return the ball 90, 95 yrds. several times.

I had the priveledge of watching that Clark/Gross duo many times and they were a joy to watch.
I saw the Jones/Howard duo once and that was enough for me.
Great duo, lousy outcome if you were a Russell fan.

Shelby Co. Alex Mathews and Jordon Burke.
They teamed up for 90 completions 1844 yds and 20 TD'S.
May I also add in the classic with Scott Co. (a 60-56 win),
6 of Mathews 9 TD'S thrown that night where to Burke.
I also might add that he and Cody Minnis teamed up for 70 completions and antoher 20 TD'S.

Couch and Baker were big @ Leslie
I know everyone appreciates my Perry Central input though lol
so I'd like to mention Al Holland Jr. and Tewayne Willis
Tewayne signed with UK at HB and Al signed with Wake Forest at QB

I can vouch for what redneck says, my senior year we watched a whole lot of film from back in the day and they were amazing.
