The John Lucas Midwest Invitational brought dozens of the top young college basketball prospects from around the country to the area over the weekend.
And the basketball staffs at the University of Louisville and the University of Kentucky tried to take full advantage of the situation.
Both schools received visits from prospects at the camp.
Among those visiting Louisville and the KFC Yum! Center were top-ranked 2013 prospect Jabari Parker, twins Andrew and Aaron Harrison, Troy Williams, Solomon Poole and Duane Wilson.
Kentucky also had Williams, the nephew of legendary AAU basketball figure Boo Williams, on campus along with Memphis standout LaRon Black and others.
The 6-foot-6 Williams is considered one of the top 10 prospects in the â13 class. Heâs from Hampton, Va., and picked up an offer from UK on Sunday.
Williams was in Lexington on Friday and then spent time at U of L on Saturday morning before the Lucas camp began.
âBoth visits were really good,â Williams said. âOverall, it was fun.â
The Harrison twins are out of Texas and are both considered top 10 prospects in â13. They will visit UK on Friday night for Big Blue Madness. Aaron Harrison told The Courier-Journal the visit to U of L was âjust to see the arena,â noting that the Cardinals âhavenât really contacted me until now.â
Poole is a top-50 prospect and the brother of current UK player Stacey Poole, and Wilson is a 6-1 point guard from Milwaukee.
Trinity commitment
Trinity High School senior forward Nathan Dieudonne, who had more than 20 scholarship offers, said Monday he committed to Boston University.
The 6-foot-7 Dieudonne picked the Terriers over Bellarmine, Yale, Monmouth, Lehigh and Siena.
Dieudonne is one of the top players in the Seventh Region and has been ranked as one of the top 10 prospects statewide in the Class of 2012.
UK fans' new name
A new name for Kentucky fans to track is the son of a former member of Houstonâs famed Phi Slamma Jamma team â Rickie Winslow.
Justise Winslow is a 6-6, 195-pound wing from Houston. Heâs considered one of the top 20 prospects in the Class of 2014.
