From the Sentinel-News:

In the girls’ game the Titans led 15-0 at the end of the first quarter and were up 30-0 before Shelby County’s Hayley Powell hit two free throws with 31.6 seconds remaining in the second quarter.

Collins (9-4) forced 19 turnovers and held the Rockets (0-12) to 0-for-10 shooting in the first half.

“We fed off each other,” Titans junior guard Leeara Cardwell said. “A steal leads to other things and once one of us gets fired up the whole group gets fired up.”

Cardwell finished with 13 points, six steals and five assists, while sophomore forward Aaliyah Wells tallied 15 points and six rebounds.

Cardwell said her team worked on several things it hoped to do against Anderson County on Saturday afternoon. That game, which tips off at 1:30 p.m. in Lawrenceburg, should decided the 30th District championship.

“The real test is tomorrow,” Cardwell said of the Titans’ game against the defending 8th Region champs.

Sophomore Lynsey Nichols scored five points to lead the Rockets, who were 2-for-16 from the field and finished with 32 turnovers. Shelby next hosts Owen County on Monday night.
