Coaches,
The KMSFA is currently researching several ideas with regards to middle school programs that offer football for the 6th grade level. As you all know, we currently have playoffs and championships for the 7th grade and for 3 divisions of 8th grade.
Most middle schools in the state include grades 6-8. While we recognize that each school system is different (ie. student athletes sometimes still play in youth leagues in 6th grade, etc.), we would like to gauge interest and gather some information. Our idea with this being potential future expansion to include the 6th grade level or to assist member schools in that expansion themselves BECAUSE of new opportunities this could potentially provide.
Please take a look at the following questions and REPLY PRIVATELY to my email listed below if your program currently has football at this level or if you feel your program possibly would be interested.
#1 - Name of program
#2 - Name of head coach
#3 - Contact email
#4 - Contact phone number
#5 - Does your program currently offer 6th grade football?
#6 - Does your program offer 5th grade football?
#7 - What is the number of participants your program normally averages annually at the 6th grade level?
#8 - How many 6th grade games does your program normally play?
#9 - Does your conference support play at the 6th grade level (Ex: Are there other teams close to you who play 6th grade as well)?
#10 - Would you be interested in state level 6th grade playoffs/state championship similar to the current KMSFA setup for 7th & 8th?
#11 - What insight would you offer a program potentially looking to add a 6th grade level program?
#12 - Were there any conflicts between your program and any local youth league (or any since then) when you began your 6th grade program?
Thank you all for your time and input. We will look forward to your responses.
Sincerely and respectfully,
Jeremy T. Bass - KMSFA
